For those saying the grille is too big, consider the angle of the car on which it was photographed with a very big close-up!

The new shadow character line than runs around the rear Hofmesiter kink and diagonally runs along the glasshouse helps the main mid line split the car in half allowing the bottom section to be more coke bottleish it defines the wheel arches and allows the car to sit with a 17"wheel and not look two under wheeled like the E60 was.

The main character line joins with the shadow line to suggest it is melting into the metal and forming one line with stops before the front wheel arch but visually aligns with the air breather with no connecting line.
The air breather does not utilise the Hockey stick trim but an impression in the metal itself.
Haha...melting is the adjective that sticks in my mind trying to think of a word to describe the visual contours of the side verbally. To me the whole package is unique yet familiar at the same time. Just enough to make the design fresh without the risk of over-styling. Curious as to what your impression is since you've had far more exposure to the actual car than I have.

Where things become cloudy for me is the F90. That should probably have its own thread though.

Of course I'll try to show these in my G30 profile view project!

Progressing along nicely, but the hard work is to come: detailing, character lines and the likes...

Yes. The Shadow character line starts around the rear door forms around the Hofmeister on the surface, then runs diagonally under the glasshouse where as it joins the main character line, it begins to melt into the body forming one line.
But it aligns with the Air Breather and is not too close to the wheel arch.
Its evolutionary but the details have been refined to add more coupe like Dynasm especially at the rear. Visually we are looking at the carryover of the same formula which has allowed over 2 million units to be sold in its 6 years and counting on the market.

Sure it looks great here, lets just hope the base model also looks this good, I really hate it when the specced out model looks great but the base looks like shit.

Garage List
Current 5er is imo the best looking salon car made by BMW currently. Colour is always a factor. Agree with the comments on the size of the chrome grill is large and will take getting used too. Great work by OP.

Sorry all, I've been busy with work and will finish the profile render by the end of next week... Being a perfectionist doesn't help as I want the final product to look as realistic as possible... Next project will be the F90 M5, with lots of speculations since the car is still well camouflaged!

Sorry, I've been very busy with work... Here's the work in progress.... Still lots to do... Any comments/suggestions from insiders would be very appreciated: I'm struggling a little bit with character lines and detailing... Cheers!

Very nice indeed Paul, very much an elongated 4GC IMO, and better looking than the current F10

The render is awesome, and I do like the overall look of the car if it ends up similar to that. I just think it is too big!! :/
