Racing two cars for the first time in a 24 hr endurance race sure is ballsy. Can’t wait to see how they stack up in class.

Well if looks have anything to do with it, this thing is going to a class win...beautiful.

Well first of all farah’s vid was the interior sound while your clip is exterior
and to me that gtr exhaust sounds like a diesel truck or tractor with some added pops and bangs but with little character

. Here is a clip of the c8 exhaust from outside and it sounds pretty good imho that small block sort of sipping noise:

I prefer the more sophisticated sound of the GTR. The C8 pushrod sound seems a bit crude to me. Kind of like souped up Mustang cheap exhaust.

The gtr sound is “sophisticated” because its an Amg GTR and the vette sounds “crude” because its a chevy, i think you definitely belong to the badge club but we’ll agree to disagree.

Hey...I resent that remark!!

Although I have let myself go a little too much since our last beach trip.

But seriously, it's always been like that. Love it or hate it, they/we are fiercely loyal about anything said about our car of choice.....and tend to attack rather quickly.

I was a die-hard C5Z guy as I loved the FRC design, and while I never blasted the C6 openly like a lot on there when it came out...I never planned to get one. Once I had a few, I was adamant I would forgo the C7 when it first dropped.

Now I plan to be buying a C7Z or GrandSport once we find our last dream home since becoming empty nesters. Got to keep the wife happy.

I haven't been over there much lately. The demographic has changed. 10 years ago there were some really cool people that would help anyone out....and then you had your outliers like anywhere else.

But there isn't a lot of posting from some of the older guys like it used to be.

Explain to me then how the low grumbling one note tone of the GTR is sophisticated then besides the fact that it comes from your favorite brand.

2020 Corvette C8 To Be Delayed Due To UAW Strike

https://www.carscoops.com/2019/10/20...to-uaw-strike/

Quote:
Consumers haven’t seen much of an impact from the UAW strike of General Motors, but that appears to be changing as a new report suggests the highly-anticipated Corvette C8 has been delayed.

According to the Detroit Free Press, two sources have told them the car has been pushed back so the company can “catch up on production of the current model and retool the plant to prepare to build the new model.” Of course, neither of those things can happen until the strike ends.

Production of the Corvette C8 was slated to begin late this year and the paper says that could still occur. However, production would be limited and it might not happen if the strike continues to drag on.

The automaker seemed to dismiss the report as they told the publication, “Chevrolet Corvette Stingray production begins in late 2019 and convertible production follows in late first-quarter 2020. It’s too early to speculate on production timing impacts on any of our vehicles due to the UAW work stoppage.”

Despite that, one person familiar with operations at Bowling Green Assembly strongly disagreed. As they told the paper, “I know for a fact that this strike is directly going to affect the start of regular production for the mid-engine Corvette.” The person said this is due to the fact that the company still has to fulfill orders for the outgoing Corvette C7.

Following the end of C7 production, the plant needs to be retooled. The paper says GM had originally planned to idle Bowling Green Assembly this week and then begin retooling it next week.

Some say they got FPC V8. Some say small V6 turbo. Don't know . Damn things sound like a tractor on crack

Not sure how accurate but a FPC for the Z06 would be cool.

We expect the C8 Corvette Z06 will use a naturally aspirated version of the engine that will supposedly rev to 8600 rpm and develop in excess of 600 horsepower, a power figure that's credible given the Voodoo's power rating and 8250-rpm redline.

Here’s a real quick clip of the C8R starting and revving a little bit. This new engine sure loves to rev and sounds ferocious doing it. Guy starting the car is Tommy Milner one of the racing drivers of team Corvette, Tommy has won the 24hr of Le Mans twice( C6R and C7R). Tommy and C8R will likely be added to that list.

I'm not sure why anyone posts sound clips of engines on the internet. They never sound the same in person.

I’ve seen the Corvette race teams live numerous times and they sound they make is remarkably similar to most vids I’ve seen with one exception. When close to the track it’s quite painful to the middle ear bits and ear muffs are pretty much mandatory if one wants to preserve their hearing.
I pretty much posted it to show how fast the plant revs up compared to the C5-C7 engines.

Why would anyone post movie clips since they never sound as good as real life?

The architecture of the convertible further supports our theory that the C8 Z06 and C8.R race car will have a flat-plane-crank twin-turbo V-8. Combined with the "Balance of Power" advantage that turbocharged vehicles have had at Le Mans, the tight vertical packaging of a future Z06 convertible makes a twin-turbo Z06 a no-brainer for Chevrolet.
The youtube clip of the C8.R sounds very close to the typical European FPC V8. It has the high picth whaling that is not like the C7.R deep rumbling sound.

More like the Ferrari 458 GTE race car

The C8.R has a slightly deeper tone vs. the 458 more high pitche and almost like the 488. Maybe because both the 488 and C8.R are turbo.

Out of all three, I like the 458 the best.

Some say it might be a V6 TT but it does not sound like the Ford GT. The C8.R has a much more aggressive sound compared to the more wimpy sounding Ford GT.

What does "tight vertical packaging" have to do with a flat-plane crank?

Is this person confusing "flat plane" with "boxer layout" or something?

Its sort of grasping at straws, logic is that since there is no space for a supercharger in the convertible engine bay, the z06 most likely is fitted with the FPC engine derived from the C8r rather than a supercharged lt4 or developing a new engine. Theory does make sense to me though, probably took millions of dollars to develop a bespoke FPC; why not use it?
