I've driven on both tires.
I had the GS-D3 on my Boxster and have the Asymmetric on my E90.

The GS-D3 have a softer sidewall and not as precise as the Asy. They are both very good in the rain, but again the nodd goes to the Asy as being a bit better.

IMHO - the Asy is the more advanced tire. It has the rim protector and just feels more solid under the car. There is no tramlining at all with either tire like the stock Bridgestones. Overall, I'm very pleased with the Asy as I've used them in all conditions including track time. They held up great over three days of abuse and are still going strong with about 7K miles on them.

Are the GSD3's even made anymore?

I have the Asym's and am very happy with them.

I have had both tires.

In a very short sum of words, the Asymmetrics will kick the crap out of the GSD-3's. I personally feel that Asyms are better than the PS2 and, Re050a pole positions and the discontinued S-03's.

The tire is worth it. The shoulder tread blocks are very large, the tire has immense amounts of grip in the dry and is very confidence inspiring. Paired with the lightweight wheels that I have (MORR Monoforged VS7), it's hard to believe that this is the same car!

I've tried all the same tires you had and agree with you. They are also the best wet weather tire I have ever owned.

Big fan of the Asy. Never owned the GSD3, so can't compare. I've got about 1500 miles on them and at this point I really don't think I could ask for more from a spirited daily driver tire. PS2 is an great tire - this gives it a run for the money.

They are still made in some sizes, but most sizes have been replaced with the new Asymmetric.
