I would like to order and save 2-300 in labor but I don't want to lose the warranty. From my understanding an authorized garage/dealer needs to install it to be eligible for the warranty, plus my dealer doesn't want me to walk in with one so they require that I order through them.

My Dinan dealer didn't care that I bought it online as long as it was new. I was quoted $115/hr for install, estimated to take an hour. |

Going to call another place in the area tomorrow, found that getbmwparts.com has the best deal. could save about $300 if they either price match or just charge for labor which would help cover paint costs for an AC Schnitzer diffuser. But maybe it was changed, like they change the term that I should be able to deal with them directly.

I've read over here that the V2 seems to be more refined for the 2 series. I'm still trying to figure out what is different besides the lack of bluetooth, difference power levels, and a different wiring harness? Is it more smooth than the stage 1?

Not sure what "smooth" is in relation to these devices. By smooth if you mean clear linear power, then yes the Stage 1 is smooth. I have had zero issues with it and no codes, jerkiness or any other issues. I suspect there is little difference performance wise between the two devices with the newer device redesigned to fit a single platform across multiple car model applications. If you can get a Stage 1 and the price is right, don't sweat it. Either will get you additional power in the lower RPM range without disrupting the effortless power of the sweet V8.

Ah, I like the idea of stage 1 then since it seems like it was designed specifically for the V8.

As shockingly strong as the engine is stock, the Dinan Stage 1 shows how much is left to be wrung out of the monster. Nice thing is that extra punch is down low in the band, not just at high RPM's where it is less used.

I had a more local Dinan dealer do the install (North Bay Bavarian in Santa Rosa). They did a great job and were far cheaper than BMWSF was.

Called Dinan today, looks like the Elite V2 is not legal for sale in California yet.
https://www.dinancars.com/product/d4...or-bmw-n63tu2/ The CSR told me that they will submit it for the carb approval next week, and once that is done they can sell the product to California while they wait for approval, which can take up to a year, but if it does not get approved by Carb the product will not be street legal but he's not anticipating it to not get approved. Ideally I would like Rusnak BMW in thousand oaks to carry the stage 1 tune, and for me to purcahse it from them and have it installed there. Scenario 2 would be to purchase the stage 1 tune from getbmwparts.com, and to have rusnak bmw install it. I have about 400 miles on my car now and plan on putting the tune on once I reach 1,000 miles or so. |

What are people experiencing for top speed? I had my s1 installed on the lot at purchase. My car limits out at 135mph.
I have little experience with all of this however expected no top end limit. Anyone else have experience with this issue? |
