M550i with new engine order dates?

hey guys,

I owned 2016 M3 and just returned my car.

I was torn between new M340 and M550 since new M3 is a year or so left.
I have decided to pull trigger on M550. As you all know last week's announcement on the new 520+hp engine on the 2020 M550 has got back to my decision making mode...

Should I go for the current M550 which has great deals - I can get the lease rate for 3 years to low $800/Month including tax (with security deposit - low money factor) for 10K miles/year.

Or wait to order the new engine version with laser lights in July (probably delivery in September?). It would most likely cost a lot more...

Anyone have any information on the 2020 M550 realistic dates?

Thanks

I am going to wait or I may go for a deal on a m5 or maybe order a X4M comp. I am more of a sedan person though

I have similar position... currently driving a 2017 340 MPPSK, Dinan S1 that is up July. I ordered a M550 and it just finished building this week, should be here in early June. Really good incentives and those might grow on June 1st with the 2020 now coming.

I am going to wait until I hear more and get confirmation on pricing, specs, packages and incentives.

I was originally looking to hop to the M340 like you, but incentives were really poor, so it was no brained to go for the M550 over it. I would expect similarly poor lease offers for the 2020 M550, like $1100+/mo

If they can give a good finance promo, I may go that route for the 2020. I base that on looking at current promo’s for financing it was only 1K less for 2019 M340 vs 2020 M340, if the M550 follows similar path and keeps a decent finance incentive, the dealer will still offer approx Invoice pricing and the M550 packages and options stay close, then its a no brained to put my order in for 2020 and let the 2019 go back to stock (unless they throw a crazy offer at me)

So right now, not enough info to make a decision, I bet we hear something the week of June 3rd.

Another 2016 F80 M3 owners contemplating the same switch because there is no new M3.

I'm seeing generous discounts on 2019 M550i here in SoCal but I've been tracking local inventory and haven't seen any changes in the last 3 weeks. I think everyone who knows about this car also knows about the new engine so essentially, there is not much inventory being moved. I'm going to wait another month... I think when the 2020 starts to show up in dealer inventory, that's when the deal on 2019 will really happen.

I needed a car and pulled the trigger. It was really close with fully loaded M340, but I just got a deal that I could not ignore.

$83K MSRP with all the packages
10K Miles per year
$5600 Refundable Security Deposit to to lower money factor

$785/month including Tax (I am in SoCal)

I agree with Kring above - the 2020 will be $1100+ /month or at least a grand/month
I think I will be happy with this car(and deal) until I jump to new M3 Comp/CS or whatever improved version they will have in 3 years.

That’s a fantastic deal and I am sure you are going to be happy, its an amazing car!

I will probably do the same and stick with 2019 If I can get squeeze a little more out of them and get a decent deal overall.

The 2020 didn’t get laserlights in US, and still unclear if it gets idrive7, the only other noted change was new instrument cluster. With the 2019 engine being so under reated in power to the stats given, I don't think its going to be that huge a difference that justifies the cost over the 2019.

Other than the MF deposit & basic drive off, you put anything down? Did the car have any miles like a demo/loner?

Nothing else down - basic drive off - it had like 20 miles on it (brand new)

The engine is a beast - it is definitely underrated and if you need more power it is easy to tune it (Dinan)

That is an amazing deal! You will not regret current M550i. I have '18 M550. It didn't feel like 450HP. I met at gentleman with Ford GT350. We did a little sprint and it was neck and neck thru top of 3rd. I am also comparing to my ESS tuned '15 F80, M550 pulled harder thru any gears.

Honestly, a stated 500+HP M550 is not going to be that much faster than 450HP M550 in SoCal traffic. For $250+ more per month, you can refresh your car every few months with different mods.

Good luck!

@Megabeast what % off MSRP outside of the rebates. And I assume loyalty as well in addition to the M550i rebate BMW offers.

Let me help you guys with details on the deal (I replied PM from bzcat):

MSRP: $82,975
GCC(GROSS CAP COST): $75,630
= $7,345 Savings (dealer)

CCR (Cap Cost Reduction) : $5,500 (BMW Incentive)
= Total $12,845 Savings

ACC (Adjusted Cap Cost) : $70,130

Almost $13K from MSRP

Hope this helps all of you guys on the deal.

For the specific sales person and dealer please PM me so I can intro you to my sales guy.

It seems dealer discounts are still around the same (9% off msrp), but the factory rebates are making the biggest difference in deals now. I bet once the 20s are out the dealer discounts will jump a bit for all remainder cars.

I'm in the same boat. I'm looking for a fully loaded 19' M550i. Waiting for at least a 9% off + incentives. Probably wait till next month when they can get rid of them.

That's <9% off MSRP. Is that really a great deal on an outgoing '19?
