12kWh battery 530e
Hello,
Can anyone confirm if cars ordered in the UK from August will receive the larger 12kWh battery? I believe there are some changes to standard equipment which are comfort access, 12kWh battery and iDrive7. Could anyone confirm as I placed an order at the end of July and eager to know. |

Yeah, it should.
All MY2020 530e will have the larger battery and iDrive 7 and they started producing those in July. An August order should be just getting manufactured around now (my August 5 order was manufactured on September 3). What I haven't yet seen a lot of information on is how much of a boost in real world range this has added. But I think only 1 user on the forum as obtained a MY2020 530e so far. https://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1636374 |

I picked my 2020 530e up a couple of weeks ago also, with the higher capacity battery, as far as I've read all july and later builds get the 12kWh battery.
My order was actually placed in may and car was built first week in july with the "bigger" battery and ID7. As for range; I come from a 330e F30 with a real life range of just over 20km's, and real life range I tend to get around double the range on my new 530e. Haven't really tried to squueze the range out of it from full to depleted, but it seems that I should be able to get just north of 40 km's of real life range. |

Hi Folks,
Resurrecting an old thread here but is there a way to tell whether a car has the 12Kwh battery or not? I'm looking at a 530e (from a non BMW dealer) which has a build date of July 12th 2019. I can't physically check car due to Covid restrictions so was wondering if the build date of July guarantees the larger battery? Thanks |

Despite what even the Dec 19 brochure says - My Oct build doesn't have ‘eDrive‘ designation on the C-pillar nor the ‘external sound (I am pleased to say). Live Cockpit in the upgrade has the digital ‘arc’ gauges.
The EV Database site says the upgrade was available from July in the UK - https://ev-database.uk/car/1213/BMW-530e-Saloon |

My 530e with a 9/3/2019 build date has the external sound and Live Cockpit Professional. It also lacks any designation on the c-pillar. Why don't you like the sound? It doesn't bother you in the car (I guess it could if you ride with the windows down?) and it stops playing above 20MPH or so. |
