It is beautiful, shiny and has a very deep color depth however it is hard to keeping it in good condition because of finger marks and dust as well as easily formed scratches. It must be treated very carefully.

I never cared for it because even when real, it looks like plastic. Give me a textured black wood grain any day over Piano.

No, it is not.
And in my opinion it is very classy and good looking.
But, as I've previously written, quite problematic. Here topics concerning these trims:
high gloss
piano black

To avoid the scratches, clean it with a very soft microfiber cloth. Soflty, no hard pushing on the trim and you'll be fine.

My car has it, unfortunately, and I hate it. The second you have wiped it off, there is dust all over the place again. Scratches and swirls are VERY visible. I use a "Swiffer Duster" to clean it to avoid touching it and putting pressure on it with a cloth.

If I´d configured the car myself, i would never have picked that option.

Mine is a Sport Line, so it´s standard - and replacing it now will be very expensive.

Ambient Lightning is independent of the interior trim; I have AL, but I´ve seen cars
with Piano Black w/o AL.

If you decide to get piano black, I'd suggest finding a very high quality PPF and apply it.

My experience with any glossy trim is not very joyful.
It easily scratches and it's really a magnet for dust. It's never clean no matter what you do. I've seen new dealership cars that looked horrific, hundreds of scratches on a new car, probably the coating that gives them the shine is very poor quality.
Usually the matte trims look much better regardless of how dirty they are and they do not scratch.

Dusty yes, easily scratched no. My F10 has Piano Black trim and is was still immaculate after 4 years.
Look after your interior and all will be good.

I ordered piano black trim for my 2020 M550 and absolutely love it. I keep a dust rag in the door pocket and wipe it off periodically but I love the look w/ the ivory interior

I have that trim with the cognac seat leather, along with the anthracite headlining, and i like it a lot.

Sharing with you some pictures (not the best ones, i can take more later on).

Piano black looks nice in photos (lighting and sheen), but in real life it just looks cheap has hell.
If the black had an extremely fine pattern printed in or was made from wood, and the gloss lacquer was far more durable... then maybe. Especially when you consider how much extra they're charging!

Best leaving piano black on pianos.

Had it on my previous car. Looks nice but shows every finger print. It was a $1K option. I want my $1K back!!

If you have it make some post it notes to stick on it to advise the car washers not to touch it during an after service valet

What IS piano black? Is it wood? Is it plastic?

My current F31 came with brushed aluminium and black high-gloss, both of which I despise. It's just plasticy, dusty, smudgy and tacky - like the current Mercedes trends.

I'd say put a note on there to say don't touch the car at all. Mine went in for an end of warranty check yesterday and I stuck this on the dash...

One of my old cars went in for an oil service once and came back with the complementary swirl service. Never again!

Piano black interior from what I can find is tulipwood painted, lacquered and polished. Same thing used in RR. There are still regular gloss black near shifter and climate controls.

I use a very soft paintbrush to brush off the inevitable dust on the dashboard

I think it's the best looking interior trim for the G30. I keep a small swiffer dust refill in the door pocket to get rid of the dust that constantly collects.
