I have a 2021 M550 and for some reason and I've tried multiple devices, I'm unable to watch anything on my screen. Before this car I had 2018 M550 and was able to play movies, use my hard drive etc? I've also used Bimmercode to unlock the feature and still a no go? Anyone else have this problem? It has Miracast and I'm told IPhones are not compatible???

You'll need to code the car to enable Video In Motion and Video USB. Both options (and more) are easily coded using the Bimmercode app and a supported OBD2 dongle. I suggest using an ethernet dongle for best and most reliable connection.

I've tried using Bimmercode and that didn't work for me.

So even when you are not in motion you can't play a DVD inserted in the slot? Apple devices are not supported for screen mirroring.

My 2018 came with a dvd slot but my LCI didnt

While activating Video in Motion also activate the additional codecs, and USB playing options. Also, don't forget to complete the activation procedure after the coding (pushing iDrive controller upward and holding it in main menu until setting screen shows). At least that is the procedure on iD6.

Also you may need to activate ALL USB ports to be able to play videos in Expert Mode.

If all fails you may be trying to play unsupported video files (resolution and/or codec wise)

I believe you can not code Video in Motion with Bimmercode if you have latest firmware on your BMW. You have to use another method to code

Are you in drive? If put the transmission into park, are you then able to view?

I've been coding my cars for a while, I'm doing it right and I'm using the same hard drive I had in my last car, you make a great a point, the LCI may not support the particular hard drive.

No car is in diagnostic mode when coding

Yes it's in park but after coding it should work regardless
