Time for my beloved 540i to go and for me to turn green.......kinda.

Pulled the trigger on my new 545e on Saturday and here is my build.

Kind of torn between the Blue and red Brake calipers on the Aventurine Red. Have seen it on the configurator with both and tending towards the Blue. If I choose the Red it bumps the price up way further because you have to then choose the M pro pack for €3,500.00 and you don't get much more for your money. Have been told October 1st delivery but not holding my breath.

Let me know your thoughts?

Looks terrific. My only question is do you have adaptive cruise control in your order (I don't know the package contents in your country)? My two absolute requirements for any car are the HUD and the ACC.

As to the brakes, I would go for the blue; not worth the extra cost just to get red. If you really, really wanted red (remember that for years M cars only had blue), you could have them painted.

Yea that HUD is there Steve, item 610 under the technology pack option. As regards the ACC. This is pretty standard on all cars now with lesser cars than BMW getting it for free, so I would imagine this is the same with BMW. Ill check back with you on that.

I think you lose change lane assist when you opt for an individual paint. (Thicker paint?)

WaHoo. Have been given a delivery week of September 20th for my 545e. I thought I would be waiting a lot longer than that. Having said that, the dealer did say that wireless charging tray would not work because of a shortage on microchips. I said OK but I then asked how about if you retrofit the chip some months down the line after the supply issue has been satisfied. He replied he never thought of that and will get back to me with an answer.

I cannot see why they cannot do a retrofit. They do recalls all the time for simpler stuff than that. The actual hardware will still be in the car, charging tray, spring loaded lid for same. No reason why they cannot retrofit the chip.
