noise from suspension in 540i
First time on forum and not sure where to post this
I have 2017 bmw 540i xdrive and it has this noise coming from front right (passenger) side noise only happens when turning steering to the left same noise happens when I press on that side of the car on the fender and move car up and down it DOES NOT have adaptive or msport dampers there was zero noise in the summer now it's winter and this happened |

Not suspension, that is your steering. You need further diagnosis, but common sources are in the steering column there are bearings. Cold causes the grease to be less viscous and noises can crop up. Finding the bearings and simply shooting them with an aerosol lubricant will probably nix the squeak.
Source could also be in the steering pivot points underneath the car...you could give them a shot with a spray lubricant as well. But might be temporary fix and you will need to replace the offending ball joint or whatever component is making the noise. |
