I've been using my Thinkware Q800 Pro (front and rear) for almost 2 years now and have to say, I really like it. 0 issues so far, has a parking mode, looks OEMish, wifi and GPS and it's twice cheaper than blackview.

I actually saw this camera posted somewhere on this forum and gave it a shot.

https://fitcamx.com?sca_ref=1347118.GKzbwMFcaZ is the website.

Its also on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08X3FJ58M...TGGKA9P8HVH2E6

Whatsapp: +8615014767002

The communication from the seller is A+. I connected thru whatsapp and he always replies and answered all my questions.

The dash cam came quicker than stated on amazon which was a Plus . Includes a plastic pry tool, a 64gb microsd card and a usb to microsd adapter to load the videos to your computer if needed.

Install was very straight forward, has a video to follow.
The wire it came with was a little different than whats in the video, i'm guessing upgraded wiring.

Entire install took me 10-15 minutes.

Had to remove 3 plastic trims found behind the rear view mirror and replace the bottom 3rd one with this camera.

The video quality is top notch. I can easily read license plates in the video. The app is also very good with no issues. Definitely recommend this Cam!

I left an amazon review including a video clip recorded from the camera to show the quality.

Check it out. You can tell the guy Steven sent you!
I also ordered one for my Benz SUV, waiting for it to arrive.
Blazen,

Looking at getting a cam. I like the OEM look but was reading on Amazon Q and A that if you dont capture videos to your phone, via the App i presume, that videos are deleted when the car is shut off. That's weird to me. I like the fact it's plug n play and is completely off when the car is off so the battery doesnt drain.

Q2: Can I view the video after off the car?

A: Please download the video to your phone in advance before the engine is off, or no. The built-in WiFi is connected for limited distance.

Finally, have you been to the BMW dealership with this ? And, if so, did they turn it off ?

Hey,
So the camera has a microsd card which stores the footage. You can either take the sd card out and insert into a laptop OR do get the footage normally thru the app.
When I say normally, the main way for you to view or download footage would be thru the app.

The footage is saved on the microsd card so, when you turn the car off, and turn it back on later, the footage is still there.

I think that question was more like, if the car has no power, can you access the app, and that answer would be No because the camera needs to get power to connect to your phone via wifi.
It doesnt delete the footages when you turn off the car.

I have gone to thr bmw deletership once and left my car for 4 days, they did not disable or take off my camera.

As you mentioned, the camera shuts off once the car is off and doesnt record while off.

Definitely recommend the camera to have as peace of mind in the event anything ever happens.

Awesome, I'm super paranoid about people joy riding my car now. So this should kill some anxiety. Does it record speed ? I'd really like that feature, but its not a deal breaker. I did read it recorded sound, so that is good enough. Amazon is saying late May early June. Must be coming fromChina.

Mark, if you go through the manufactures website, I believe it is cheaper. When I was considering this one a while ago, the model with the rear facing cam wasn't on Amazon but available through the website. I wasn't interested in the rear cam, but you might be.

I cant recall if it has the speed option to be displayed. It might but I probably disabled it lol. Ill check settings tomorrow. Yes it has the sound recording also.

Mine came pretty quickly. You can chat with the seller to see if he can give you any discounts on it.

Best OEM-Looking Dash Camera!

The cam continues to record when you turn off ignition. After the car actually power down, it records for about 8 minutes. I timed it.

I've taken the car to dealer since install, they didn't mess with it - I viewed the video. They did take it for a drive but not 12 miles lol. They basically went around the block to check for bent rim vibration. I'm not sure if the tech knew the cam was there. I sure didn't mention it. I suspect they didn't because they were having normal work conversation based on recording.

One tip - there's a blinking blue light when the cam is recording. Place some black tape to block it, so no one knows it's there. Also make sure when you remove the micro sd card and put it back in, you press the power button on cam to turn it back on.

Can you save the videos to your phone? I was under the impression that you could view the recordings on the app it works with and download them. If so, why does one need to remove the SD card?

Newbie questions, never had a dash cam but still lurking over you guys.

You can. But the app connection is too sporadic for me. So if I want to view I just pop out the sd card. Keep in mind I won't be viewing the recordings regularly since cam is there "just in case". So not a big deal for me to remove sd card to view on my laptop.

The app is janky at best. I use my beater android tablet with it because I don't trust the app enough to install it on any of my devices that have personal info on it. While you could view direct from the app, it's actually more efficient and less of a headache to just pop the card out in 30sec and watch on your iPad, Android, or PC in full quality.

I live in CA and when I initially took the car to the dealer with the dashcam, I notified them because I believe there is a legal restriction on recording conversations without consent or notice in the state. If I weren't recording audio I wouldn't have said anything- check your local laws.

No GPS so no official speed recording. Just time and date timestamp. Like I said before, the audio pickup in this thing is ridiculously clear- you can tell how aggressive someone is driving because it's picking up the engine clear as day. Mine can pickup the pops from the exhaust if I turn it up lol.

I'm in a 1 party consent state. But I agree, check your state laws.

Also another tip given by you. Get a larger micro sd card.

I'm really liking this dashcam, although I'm regretting not getting the rear camera. I too use an old iphone to connect to the app. Its the same phone I use for BM3 and Bimmercode etc etc so it pretty much stays with the car.

I still haven't pulled the trigger, but this tempts me again. I want the easiest installation possible, so I will skip the rear cam. The feedback on the difficulty plugging it in if you have big hands has me leery.

How hard was this? Sounds like it was a breeze given how quick you installed it.

Its a super easy install. I only have the forward facing camera, so all I had to do was take off 3 pieces of plastic. This camera comes with a wire harness that "T"s into mirror harness with OEM style plugs. Takes about 10 minutes if you're rough and maybe 25 if you're gentle.

The reason why I wish I had the rear facing camera is that I now notice bad drivers more and I tend to get ahead of them to prevent being stuck behind a car accident waiting to happen. The rear facing camera would be nice for insurance purposes if they start driving erratically behind me as well.

The downsides is the install will take a few minutes more and I'm not sure there is a way to mount the rear camera with an OEM look like the front camera.

Not all cameras use the same "tap" for the power.

In this video it is a mirror tap. Mine came with the rain sensor tap! This is located behind the one you see in the video and against the windscreen. Even more difficult to reach and to detach.
So you permanently unplug an feature for this camera to work or this just plugs in line and grabs power from one of the plugs?

I don't want to interrupt main rain sense wipers or mirror dimming if that is what these do.

No, this does not disable any features. It simply "T"s into the harness utilizing the OEM plug. So you're just adding a harness in between the plugs to accommodate the camera.

I hope I made sense.

The front cam installation is easy. But needs patience with the cabling and the trims. The installation video doesn't have the HBA sensor. I have the HBA sensor and it took time to properly bring the cables from the front cam to the adapter plug.

Rear camera cable needs routing below the head liner from front to back. There is a trim for roof break light where we can hide all the extra cable for the rear cam.

540iSUP
the rear one doesn't look bad though it's not hidden like the front cam. Will post more pics of the rear cam later.

Thank you. Makes total sense. I've watched the install video about 20 times. It seems straight forward.

How difficult is it to remove the 3 plastic sections behind the mirror? I actually have this camera, but thought the plastic removal would be a pain. The rest seems quite easy. I have an appointment to get it installed, but its 2 weeks out.

Edit:

I answered my question.
