Very true at 3900 lbs but my F22 was auto and xdrive so it was no lightweight either. Stock for stock the F handles much flatter with way less understeer.

Lol yeah it's all grill, as if BMW was inspired by them; probably my least favorite thing about the car but luckily I can't see it while driving.

Oh man, you know the pain then, most awful controls I've ever had.

Well done! Love those, but can't justify a car payment that matches my mortgage.

In reality, it comes down to driving style. Under heavy load, bigger naturally aspirated motors actually have the same or BETTER fuel economy than smaller, turbocharged motors.

So why are smaller turbocharged motors rated higher on EPA fuel economy numbers? Because those numbers assume everyone drives like a grandma. Yes, if you drive like a grandma, then smaller turbocharged motors will have better fuel economy numbers than a large V8. But you don't buy a sports coupe to drive like a grandma.

Manufacturers are well aware that their high powered sporty coupes/sedans will be typically driven in a spirited manner. But because of blanket government policies, they're incentivized to hit a target fuel economy figure. In the case of the EPA, out of the series of tests they conduct, the most aggressive test assumes a 0-60mph time equivalent of 7 seconds. Now with cars in this class easy in the 3-4 second mark, 0-60 in 7 isn't exactly "spirited".
As their only driver my 07 335's approaching 500hp are far more fuel efficient even with a 30% E85 mix than my 550hp 10 Challenger. Having said that the combined mpg rating for a 235 is as Kenny described, but significantly higher than Kenny describes for the Lexus according to reviews (which better fit's with my experience).

Congrats!

My brother has a GSF. It's an exhilarating car when you rev that V8 out. Unlike the 2 series, these cars will be sought after in the future when most cars will be EVs.

Believe it or not the N55 to 500 whp and beyond is far far less of an investment than a 5.0 RC F.

I can take a Civic to 500whp too.

The GSF/RCF cars aren’t for spec warriors. It’s like arguing that an automatic transmission is faster than a 6MT. We all know autos will be faster, but there’s still something valued in rowing your own gears. And something valued in a NA V8.

Yeah they're pretty underrated cars, not much marketing or hype on them. All the reviews are pretty brutal and it's underwhelming compared to it's competitors but it's still a special car and very fun to drive, a great DD for sure.

Thanks all.

Very nice. I really want to pick up an IS500 or maybe the new RS3. I just don't know if I want to spend over 60k again on a 3rd car.

Thanks. I love the new IS500, it looks fantastic without being "overdone." I think they should have just called it the new IS F. I drove an older RS3 and just was not impressed. Yeah they market is nuts right now; so much markup on new cars.

The new RS3 seems to be a beast. Also love the new RS3 interior. I would get that, especially if you plan to tune.

I disagree on calling it an IS F. In my opinion it would need more suspension and transmission work to go that far. That would raise the price even higher, and I don't even think at 100k Lexus could have made an M3 beater. The limited edition RC-F with all the carbon bits (forgot what it's called) doesn't even get there. I don't think the GS-F did either, although it's still a great car.

IS 500 F would have been fine instead of the word salad of a name it received, but it's not a big deal. For once, I think Lexus figured out exactly what they are good at building and executed it as flawlessly as they could with the IS 500. To someone like me who owned an F80 M3 for street use and never really fell in love with it as a street car, the IS 500 is exactly what I've been looking for.

The new RS3 is compelling to me because I have a great relationship with my Audi dealership, and I think it would be a fun experience to own. I think RS cars are better suited for the street than M cars, but it would be really hard for me to choose the RS3 over the IS 500. I don't see myself keeping the RS3 for very long for some reason, but the IS 500 I would want to keep forever. It's such a cool car that will always be cool in the future.

After thoughtful consideration the relevance of anything stated in your response escapes me?

I'm not going to lie. I love the look of the car and the powerplant sounds exquisite. I just really wish it came in a manual.

If it did I honestly would have had a hard time staying BMW.

Gorgeous car tho!

They may not look as good but they do a great job of keeping me snug in the seats on corners, bolstering is way better than the F22, no need for race seats here lol.

Thanks! Yeah a 3rd pedal would make this car much more enjoyable, especially since the 8-sp is sluggish. I really do miss the xhp zf8 I had. I couldn't trust my F22 anymore, kept stalling out on me on highways (turns out it was a bad hpfp at only 50k miles).
