USB C to Lighting cable required?

Hi all,
I am taking delivery of a new G31 520d UK spec next week, I have just gone for the standard car in terms of iDrive, so no Technology pack.

Am I right in assuming I will need a USB C to Lighting cable to use apple car play and charge the phone? It appears that both wireless charging and connection are only included when the tech pack is ordered.

For reference, my previous car was a 2018 Audi Q7 with the tech pack (albeit different manufacturer). That had wireless charging but connection to apple car play was via USB A to Lightning.

Any advice appreciated as I'd like to get anything I need in before the car arrives.

It's all wireless but if you use wireless CarPlay and wireless charging your phone will likely overheat.

Apple Carplay in BMW's is only wireless and it works well. I believe the LCI has USB-C ports, you definitely will want a USB-C to Lightening cable for fast charging. It will literally charge your phone from single digits to 75% in 15 minutes. The wireless charging pad is poorly engineered. It does not charge well and it will overheat your phone like you left in the sun on a 100 degree day. I use nothing but USB-C chargers in my car.
