Ambient temperature outside sensor.

I have a problem with ambient temperature outside sensor.
Out of nowhere, the temperatures started to show me 10 degrees higher than they really are.
For example, outside is -5 the temperature on the dashboard is +5.
I bought a new sensor, replaced it. Nothing has changed.

Is sensor calibration required ?
I didn't find anything on google on my G31 car.

Odd
I don't have an answer but am aware that it can be affected by washing the car where water appears to get near the sensor causing it to misread for a while

Im also aware that in the hidden menu there is an item called raw temp data (or something similar). That seems to show a slight different temp that display on the dashboard
I don't recall there being a correction factor for it though

Hidden menu is engine on, hold down tripometer for 15s or so. Then using the same button cycle through options. Need to selec unlock and the number you need to enter is the sum of the last 5 digits of your VIN

I can say for sure that it is not caused by washing the car, because it worked properly for 2 years in the winter as it is now.

In the hidden menu, it showed me even more degrees than it really is.

On the photo there is a real temperature via iphone which is -6 and i have +4 in the dashboard

Any other ideas?

Sii oh try no but yes my car also shows raw data temp slightly higher but only by about 2c.

If under warranty can your dealer help?
I guess this may cause minor changes as regards how the air conditioning works

I wouldn't solve 2 celsius but 10 is already a big difference.

My warranty ended last year in August...

Location of the ambient temperature sensor g30

Hi all
I'm having the same issue - +10deg over
Considering replacing the sensor also...
Cannot figure out where it's located?

Can anyone point me in the direction where I might find the little devil?
Thanks.

Hello, it is necessary to unscrew the right front wheel, then put down the wheel arch ,should be tucked into the bumper.

Write me if you replaced the sensor if it helped or not ,it didn't help me

Thanks, had a look this morning at the front wheel arch - there are a few fixings screws missing - will investigate further later in the week, did notice that messing around with the cover seemed to bring down the ambient temperature reading? If I replace the sensor I will let you know my findings stanospeed thanks again.

The location of the sensor cannot affect the temperature, maybe just a little bit.
Because before works good,i think problem is in sensor or someone electric issue.

Try replacing the sensor but with OEM parts.

folks, finally got round to replacing the sensor this morning.
as stanospeed suggested -remove the wheel, remove the wheel liner partially in the drivers wheel arch (uk spec) right side pull the liner gently forward this allows a bit of room to get at the sensor its located abutted to the bumper noteably the tip of the sensor pertroudes down through the air vent in the bumper. I replaced with a sensor from amazon for £6.00 so far seem to be reading the corrct temp.
