Sprare Tire Option
Has anyone seen the spare tire. How much trunk does it take up? Finally ditch the runflats. I already ordered mine with spare without seeing. just curious at this point.

The other discussion is buried in a different thread, so will put it back here
They add the spare/emergency wheel holder, storage compartments and a new opening trunk mat. So you loose some trunk space Spare is a Continental or Maxxis 135/80/18

Shouldn't it be listed somewhere if the floor cover sits higher and you lose some of the 530 liters of space with the spare tire?

Doesn't reduce it nearly as much as the full size spare I'm carrying around in my F10 trunk, when I ditched the run-flats in the first month after purchase. Sure am happy about the new option to get rid of them. Unfortunately, I suspect that it's a rare US dealer that will stock cars with this option. Anybody know of one within 300 miles of Houston, please PM me.

Wheels are big these days (particularly the rear staggered wheel), and a problem with a loaded trunk. Run-flats still make a lot of sense for simplicity of use. |

The 3rd generation Bridgestone runflats that were fitted to the F30 3 series are almost incomparable to the first generation fitted to the pre-facelift E90. Night and day difference The new G30 tyres should be better than the F10 ones

You definitely loose trunk space, a large suitcase should be able to fit in laying down. Only negative is you loose the dip in trunk so packages can bounce around back there. I have to look into getting a storage net back there.
POSITIVE, NO MORE RUNFLATS. My new tires are so quiet and absorb bumps so much better. They put Michelin tires on mine. I do not regret getting this option as if I need a big trunk, we take our lexus truck. |

How hard is to remove it from the trunk?
EDIT: I've found the answer http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...ighlight=spare

Space-Saver Spare removal
Takes about 3 minutes to remove. Attaching pages from the owners manual.
Truly a no-brainer at $150 when the car is ordered. So much more costly if you want one later. Easily sold on E-bay at a sweet multiple of what you paid if you decide some day you will never use it. Last edited by MauiSteve; 08-26-2019 at 08:13 AM.. |

FYI, after popping two Goodyear Asymmetric F1 runflats in less than a year, I have switched to Michelin PS3 ZP runflats, in stock sizes. So far, I love the ride and grip, and have no runflat complaints. Will let you know, as time passes, how they do. So far, I like them as much as the PS4S I had on my M4.
