New recall

It seems my car has a new recall.

The german recall website
https://www.bmw.at/de/footer/quick-l...-aktionen.html
has STOP024983 listed for my car

Seems it for the braking system as per https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...92&postcount=9

My x5 50e has it too

Please keep this thread posted with the results of what this is specifically. I’m curious what’s different about the 2024s and the braking system. This did not come up on mine when it went in for its 1200 mile service last Friday. Plus I check a variety of recall sites at least once per week.

My production date was October 9th, so that explains why mine is not part of it. Thanks for sharing the details.

The question I keep asking is “it is safe to drive?” but I get no clear answer.

This is probably the same thing as the airbag recall on the X1 and iX vehicles last year. Note that if you take your vehicle in for service for anything else while there’s an active stop sale and your vehicle is impacted by it, they will not want to give it back to you and send you out with a loaner. They can’t technically make you leave it there, but they will try.

I find it must be a very serious problem as I tried every option to find out information form the grage to bmw uk and they will not answer any question and for there to be a hold on all new XM and now a lot of there new cars and there no fix in 7 weeks it must be a big issue ? Question is how much longer will the cars be on hold and if it’s a part how long to get the parts in stock and swopped ?

I have to take the car for service anyway and hopefully they will stop it there. If they do BMW HQ will reimburse the lease payments for the period the car staid in service.

My production date was October 9th which is outside of the date range of this recall which I believe goes through mid September. Since my Label was one of the first one built, yours is also probably unaffected by this recall.

You can also check the following sites. Note the first one is not owned or administered by BMW. The last one is a BMW site, but in a different language. You can use Google Tranlate to translate the response.

I called BMW today and they told me this recalled was opened on 12/21/23 and that my car was probably added to it recently. He was able to get some additional details like shutting off DSC (if I felt comfortable) to help keep the integrated braking system from failing. He assumes since this is so widespread that there will be a sense of urgency to get this address quickly but he doesn’t know for sure.

Called a few local dealers and all of them told me there’s no timeline and they don’t have the parts either.

It appears to only be on vehicles with a mid-September production date (or earlier), so that means some of the very first 2024 XM base models may be vulnerable since production on those started in August. The Labels didn’t start production until early October, so they don’t appear to be impacted.

Pretty common on X7 LCI and XM. Done a handful on each. If you’re lucky you’ll only get a CEL. If you’re not lucky you’ll get brake warnings and not be able to start the car and drive. Replacement of DSCI and brake bleeding and programming required.

We had a similar situation with my wife’s iX. It sat at the port in California for over two months waiting for parts from Germany. There were hundreds of people waiting that long or longer. Sucks but it is what it.

That X1 and iX airbag recall last year lasted even longer than that which made the vehicles pile up at the VPCs. In June or July, BMW started offering those $9,900 lease incentives which killed the value for those of us that purchased them. That’s why I got rid of mine after only 10 months.

In our case I believe it was a trim piece based on discussions on the iX forum. Wasn’t a big deal for us as my wife was happy with her existing car.
