M style wing mirros question

Question for those that have them fitted:

Other than the asthetic styling, do the "wings" that come with the M5 Stlye wing mirrors do anything to help/hinder wind noise?

I'm sure thye help with airflow around the car, not that i'd notice in daily driving, but does also increase or reduce wind noise at highway speeds?

It really doesn't make a difference in noise or aerodynamics from a daily driver POV.
