Carbon Fiber Grill with all other Cerium Trim

I fully realize this is an open ended question and I have no pictures (yet). I got a great deal on an RW Carbon Fiber Grill that I couldn't pass up. I also got a similar deal on RW CF fender vents.

Let's just focus on the grill. I have all cerium gray trim now but sometimes I yearn for a black or CF grill. I also have the RW CF CS spoiler.

How do you think the grill only would look while keeping the bumper trim, mirror caps and fender vents cerium gray? Additionally, if I also swapped in the CF fender vents with the grill and left the mirrors and bumper cerium gray, would that be just a complete mash-up?

I know I'm asking you to visualize but curious what your reaction would be without seeing it?

I do think cerium gray could compliment CF where as I think the same is not true with a mix of gloss black and cerium.

Thoughts? Pictures coming Saturday.

I have a feeling you will be on a slippery slope to replace it all with CF.

having said that, these are accent parts that would help tie in the front with the rear of your car. you already have a CF spolier and diffuser yes?

Maybe carbon side sills will tie it all in, keeping all but the front grills in cerium?
This in my mind will create a wrap around effect of CF with Cerium accents.

Thanks for you input. I value and appreciate it. I have a carbon fiber spoiler and a gloss black diffuser. I think you may be right about going 100% CF. I'm going to see how the grill looks and since the fender vents were a "why not" purchase, I'll try those too. I guess on those I'm wondering if the mirrors left in cerium will look ok. Similar for the CF grill with the bumper trim left in cerium. If I do the bumper trim, my plan is to wrap it in gloss black. That will be consistent with the rear CF spoiler and gloss black diffuser. I'll be posting pics Friday if everything arrives on time.

I started with just the gloss black grills intending to leave the rest the ceramium grey. That lasted 3 days as it just didn’t look right to me. So I ended up having all the bits wrapped gloss black. If you’re interested I have brand new bmw cf mirror caps that I’ll probably end up selling. My next mod will probably be the gloss black diffuser.

My gut tells me I'll be in the same place as you. I've begun researching mirror caps. It will be pretty much the bumper trim pieces I intend to wrap because you can't get them both right now and the mirror caps. I don't really care about the door handles. Definitely interested on what you have. Shoot me a pm with the details and a price.

you can have bumper trim in carbon which will go nicely with grill.

you can do side vent trims in carbon which will go nicely with carbon mirror covers.

you already have CS spoiler at the back

you know i am always going to support carbon

quick update on mine, ordered M performance flat bottom steering wheel / carbon fibre streering wheel trim and F90 carbon paddles hoping to fit all on Mon/Tue

Nice! looking forward to seeing that wheel. Yeah, I know RW has the CF bumper trim, they are ridiculously expensive which hasn't stopped me before, but I do try to have some self control. Financially to spend $400 with shipping and tax for these two out of the way down low pieces is tough to swallow. If I could get them in gloss black I would be fine with that just to take the edge off, plus they would match my diffuser. I'll take a shot at wrapping them, nothing to lose except $30 bucks on the wrap.

We shall see this afternoon which direction I will go in. I'll probably put on the side vents as well to see how bad the mirrors look.

Put one side on. I don't know honestly whether it's worth it. Not the best lighting. May be a mash up.

How is the fitment of the grills?

I think it looks decent, but carbon all over May be the way to go.

Looks pretty good, but literally put them on in the garage, backed it out for a few pics and put it away for the night. Looking forward to seeing it out and about this weekend. Fitment seems okay, it's kind of strange putting on an overlay with double sided tape.

Nope, they fit like a glove. Happy to take some close ups with the hood open if you would like. They really are a super thin perfect mold. I did take them off to reapply the tape better. There's definitely a technique on where to put it. I used black gorilla tape. Definitely no need for 3M adhesive auto tape for these.

I'm not so sure. I actually like the cerium. Just hated how big it made the grill look.

😀😀😀it's early, but I'm really liking the new grill and I think the likelihood of me swapping back is low. Even my girlfriend likes it better and she hates everything I do (sometime I think "just because"). She even liked the chrome grill better on my E39 and that swap to black was a no brainer.
