2018 530e type 1 to type 2 port

Hi all,

I'm just after importing a BMW 530e pre-LCI 2018 from Japan to Ireland. I knew that it was coming with a type 1 port, so I purchased a type 1 to type 2 adapter in advance. I expected the charging cable that comes with the car to come with a standard Japan connection and I was expecting to use an adapter to convert the plug to a three pin to use it at home. Looking at realoem the Japan charger is 61446818638 and the UK one is 61446818620.

My issue is that the Japan plug is like the one listed here:
https://www.volex.com/wp-content/upl...or-400x400.jpg
That doesn't seem to be a standard connection and I cannot find an adapter to change this into 3-pin and I don't know if that's even safe or not.

Is the best thing to do here to change the port from a phase 1 to a phase 2 connection and buy a used 3-pin BMW charger? My car came with part 61126841561 which is phase 1 and I can see phase 2 port is 61126841559. These look to connect to the same control unit 61449485031 so it seems like its just plug and play.

Has anyone done this before and how big of a job is it? Thanks in advance for the help.

I just bought an official BMW flexible fast charger with a 3 pin UK plug but unfortunately I'm getting a main power too low error on the dashboard. I thought it was due to the adapter I was using to convert the type 2 plug on the charger to the type 1 plug on the car. I bought another converter on Amazon and I still have the same issue however. The car charges fine while driving but now when plugged in.

Does anyone know if the KLE unit could be faulty? It seems a common issue in these PHEV/EV BMWs as there are 6/7 revisions of the unit on realoem. Is the best bet to bring it to BMW for testing and to see will it be covered under warranty? It's still within the 6 year/100km PHEV warranty by BMW but I'm not sure will they cover it as I imported it from Japan.

My only other thought is changing the port on the car to use the type 2 port that's used in Europe. I checked the repair manual and it looks a big job however. Looks like the subframe has to be dropped.
