anyone else install the BMW perf spoiler yet?
I installed mine with the 3m tape but am not happy with the way it turned out and was going to take it off and redo it. I ended up removing the thin strip of tape that BMW puts on the spoiler and instead put a little bit thicker stronger set up and as a result I have a slight slight gap from the tap in certain areas which for me is not going to work.
I have always installed with Betalink but this is the first time I have used 3M so I'm sorta of a newb. I was wondering what others who have installed it with 3M did during their install and what sort of results they were getting. also any tips on removing it? hair dryer to heat it up work? thanks!

If you don't mind me asking where did you buy the spoiler? IND or BMW?

Yup. Hair dryer to heat it up a little always works for me. I usually have to remove and reinstall mine every couple of years from it lifting on the corners. No biggie for me. I'm actually getting ready to install it on my m4 tomorrow. Going to just use it the way it came from the factory and see how it goes. I'll report back.

Long story short two things. One my buddy who works for NA recommended I use two strips instead of the one that comes on it. So I did but when I put it on it didn't line up exactly the way I wanted so I had to pull it off. Once I did that I was paranoid that the tape lost some of it's hold so I ripped it off and started with fresh tape. But after all that I think the single strip that it comes with is just fine and I should have just left it alone but the anal part of me wasn't having it and the paranoid part was t either lol

Removing spoiler from trunk isn't really tough. But getting rid of tape residue from spoiler requires a lot of adhesive remover and many hours of scraping.

I fitted my OEM one today......... Three times. The first wasn't my fault, the second time I wasn't happy with and the third is perfect.
The first time I noticed that it was lifting in several places and refused to adhere. When I removed it the tape had adhered very firmly to the car but pulled off in places from the carbon. I noticed that there is a lacquer or something that was used in the moulding process that came away in places so I had to set to and remove it all before re-taping. |

^^I agree I am a fan of beta link as well. Just a little more re insurance thats its not coming off!
I will say though the 3m tape seems to be holding up just fine no issues at all. I still need to remove it and re do it but just have not had anytime to do so yet.

This might be a stupid question, but did anyone adjust the trunk after putting the spoiler on? I had no idea we are suppose to do this since it's just a small piece?!

I did, it's takes 2 minutes a side. You can just pull back the trunk carpet. Didn't seem to make a difference but I felt better.

Reading this is solidifying my decision to have it done by a body shop with Beta Link. My Challenge front lip drove me crazy trying to get to fit right with 3m tape.

My rear spoiler is very solid and installs extremely nicely with the included tape.

Of the stuff I did, this was the easiest. Removed wax from paint with alcohol and included cleaning cloth. I test fitted and positioned it. Used pieces of masking tape from the spoiler to the trunk in three spots. Cut the tape along the edge of the spoiler so one part of the tape was on the trunk and the other on the spoiler. Peeled the plastic from the 3m tape back from the center part of the spoiler. Lined the spoiler up on the trunk using the masking tape as a guide. Press down firmly while peeling away the plastic. Open beer.
