Colour Decision, would really appreciate input

My current lease is almost up so I'm a few months out from grabbing a special order M550i. I know you can special order individual paint, but was wondering anyone's experience with colours still in production and available on other models?

Really want to go for the Dravit Grey and know it's available on pretty much every series except the 5 series. None of the current colours appeal to me unfortunately. General consensus that BMW NA will let me special order this? Any input appreciated.

Considering that you are looking for a grey/antharzit color and that you are going to order an individual/special color anyway consider Frozen Artic Grey.....really a stunning color.

If you live in a sunny state....San Marino Blue!

I went with Aventurine Red Metallic, technically an individual color when I ordered it. I had no issues getting a build slot/allocation. Actual build process was very quick. Still waiting, but that's because it's sitting in a parking lot waiting on a delivery truck.

I have a feeling this individual color may be different than the others as it was selectable in the configurator. I think it was also only $2000 compared to other ind choices ($5000).

I had the chance to see it in person on a friend's 750. Super happy with the choice, I think it'll stand out/pop compared to other G30s.

I thought about the frozen options. My only gripe is I'd be super paranoid for any little scratch that would mess it up. Might be an option later though via a satin wrap, would make me feel less worried could just peel off a panel and re-do it.

Yeah, actually I was using that to look at other possible options remotely close to dravit grey. My hope is with all the crazy options on there they BMWNA won't bat an eye at approving me wanting a colour that is still in production on other models. Question is, will they charge me a full $5k for it. I'm hoping it'll at least closer for what they charge as the current individual option $1950

how long did it push out production for you not taking covid into account? that's the other thing, timing it just right with the ending of my current lease but no idea how long production will take with the individual colour option.

I don’t think it added any time at all. Production started normally, about a week our from my build week. Took about one week to complete production, then was off to the port of departure. My biggest delay to this point has really been in Baltimore waiting for a truck to take it to the dealer.
