545e
Anyone here purchase a G30 545e yet? I know that they are not available in US but are in the UK and Europe. Thinking of trading in my three year old 540i for one of these and wondering what the ride is like in one of these.

Not yet but the EU are introducing speed limiters in 2022.
Not sure at this stage what form it will take but believe it is along the line of speed being incorporated in the satnav with cameras reading the signs and overriding the satnav if necessary. Believe it can be overridden by pushing down on the gas pedal. Personally can flaws in this , ie car reading a speed limit sign on a parallel road as one example, sen this quite a few times myself Can't see this being popular with car enthusiast and I fear for marques such as Aston Martin, Ferrari etc. Anyone have any details on how the technology is being implemented ? This is one article It's going to be a difficult one to argue against I suspect.... https://www.confused.com/on-the-road...ry-on-new-cars |

I am so jealous that you can get a 545e. That is what I wanted. The 530e that I have is adequate but I would love the sweet straight six in the 545e.
But, alas, other than pure envy, I can't offer any experience. |

I have test driven it twice, and I was so impressed that I've signed a purchase order. Unfortunately estimated delivery is up the air which according to the dealer is down to issues getting the breaks delivered for this model. 🤔

Does it drive like a 540i? Or have they made any changes to the platform to make it drive better?

I was driving the 545e in a fairly built up area without the chance to test its abilities, but from what I could feel it is sticking well to the road and still very comfortable when it need to be - that said I would be surprised if a non-hybrid model isn't a better handling car. |
