Entered the lotto for a 530E

Well, it seems like it is a lottery. I place the order for a 530E with the dealer over 3 weeks ago. And there they have no production order number yet. They are just hoping one will drop in on them.

I wish I would have found this forum before I placed my order. I have learned a lot reading though these boards and would have handled things differently with the dealer.

Here hoping my numbers come up!

Congratulations! What spec did you go with? Do you mind dropping a link to your build?

That's a nice spec! Good choice to go with the premium package and parking assistant package. You'll love the surround 3D cameras!

Very nice. Enjoy. If your dealer really wants your business, it can trade with another dealer that has a slot.

They got my deposit. So I don't think they care. The sales person will not respond to e-mail or phone calls, had to call sales manage to get any information.

Reach out to the general manager. Tell her that if they can't accommodate you within the next five days, you want a refund.

As much as dealerships want your money, they hate giving refunds even more.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it is a non-refundable deposit. Like I said above I wish I would have found these boards before I talked with the dealer. I then would have known more about the BMW allocations/production. I would have done things differently.

This will be my ninth new car, of which 2 were also ordered. I have never had so much problem with dealers, wondering if it just BMW.

There is no such thing as a totally non refundable deposit. If they took your deposit to sell you a car and then they don't proceed to the sale, that is either fraud or a basis for a refund claim. Non-refundability refers to you backing out, not the dealer being unable/unwilling to fulfill its sales duty.

I agree with others that you should push the dealer to look elsewhere for an allocation.

FYI - If you do get an allocation soon, those massaging seats may push back your build date. I removed them from my M550 build as it was pushing my estimated start date back until mid-June. After I removed, I am now looking at a mid-April start to production.

Wow! That's would be fine for me. I don't care much for massaging seats. They also make the seats stiffer. I would just get ventilated seats. Those don't change the stiffness.

Still no allocation - It been 42 days. Two weeks ago when the responded to my e-mail they stated that they are working on it every day and be patient, and give them time. Now they are not returning my e-mail at all.

Are all BMW dealer this difficult?

Probably a difficult time with the way things are still happening with the pandemic.

But you have nothing to lose since you're in a holding pattern here. Reach out to another dealer and see if they have an allocation and can play ball with your number. If so, unwind your deal once you've been given a build sheet with your allocation information. As your current dealer can try tactics to speed things up like trading allocations or shifting stuff around (assuming BMW has enough allocations that other dealers aren't struggling to and don't have allocations to trade).

I am super happy I ordered in 2019. This all sounds like a genuine nightmare. Long delays and cars showing up without ordered options. Just not my bag.

I wish you the best of luck.

They have your deposit but they promised to get you a car and they don't even have a verifiable order. I would demand an immediate refund and threaten to sue them for fraud if they don't.

After 42 days they could have easily traded for a slot but they don't obviously care or they have higher profit orders they want to take care of. Either way...get yourself out of there. You might also complain to your Attorney General and to the local media.

It's true though. My dealership told me that there is a "banking system". The first 5 cars placed go into order first. The rest have to wait until the next quarter of the year. This is for each M/M performance model though. I'm not sure for normal cars.

What else would you call it? They wait for the start of the month and hope they get an allocation.

I am curious. Did the allocation follow any action on your part or did the dealership just finally come through with it?

Not sure, in the e-mail they are said that they were able to traded for one. But Tuesday I did some e-mailing to a some random BWM address.

I ordered my G30 in November 2020. Still no production allocation.

Firstly it was scheduled for February, then my dealer had fixed allocation for April but recently when I asked for an update, they told me that April has been cancrled and they are waiting for confirmation of allocation for June.

That’s crazy, especially since I have sold my car last year...
