Is it possible to code these values in bimmercode expert?

C_STA_Einschraenkung - set to "keine Einschränkung"
CQalcRel_v_Tacho_akitv_mph

On my car G30 the option is for hands free are

C_STA_ALC_handsoffgestchwausschaltgrenzeMph
C_STA_ALC_handsoffgestchweinsschaltgrenzeMPh

Set to the value to the speed you want it to have hands free up to. The main reason why I wanted to code this because the steering wheel does always recognize my hands very well. Please note that hands free can disengage because road conditions, car in front moves, hard turns. This is not a fully autonomous car, so keep this in mind.

It’s not incorrect. In my 22’ m550i I have gone upwards of 5 mins without having to touch the steering wheel when in “drivers assistance pro” mode or whatever it’s called. You just need to remain looking forward or at least to where the camera believes you’re watching straight ahead.

I’ve gone for multiple minutes at anywhere between 25-40mph without having to interact with the steering wheel. The light bars in the steering wheel lock green and the car handles accel, decel, braking, steering, etc

Granted these uses have always been on the highway like you suggested and like the feature is intended to to be used

Hay,

Can someone share the coding for longer period for "hands free" for G30/31?

Or is this the trick as mentioned by @Raslin777?

I would just like bigger time period.

Correct, it works in my 2019 g30. Coded with protool.

Don't know what your coding with but this will not work with bimmercode, that's why I use protools(has more options available)

If you can find the values you can try:
CQalcRel_v_Tacho_akitv_kmh or CQalcRel_v_Tacho_akitv_mph to set the speed limit it kicks in.
And
C_STA_Einschraenkung to keine Einschränkung to make it work in all roads.

Thanks Raslin777, I think I found it. In ProTool, open the "Special Equipment" module, select "Expert," and then "3000 SAS 10." From there, search for "c_sta_alc_handsoff" and you should find the values. Look closely because many are similar.

Note that there is also a typo in Post #47 above; the correct spelling is:
  • C_STA_ALC_HandsOffGeschwAusschaltgrenzeMph
  • C_STA_ALC_HandsOffGeschwEinsschaltgrenzeMPh
I changed mine to 91 and 92 respectively since I'm not sure if they are decimal or hexadecimal values. I'll have to test it later, probably tomorrow.

Thank you @Raslin777

Obviously LCI doesn't have the same values anymore.

If someone finds the trick for LCI, let me know.

Per Post #48 above, LCI has that camera at the top of the instrument panel that looks at your eyes so it seems to be a different system. As long as you are looking straight ahead you shouldn't have to worry about holding the wheel. I'd bet that it's possible to code but to your point it's probably different than on pre-LCI. I'm not sure if anybody has figured that out yet.

I had a chance to test my coding change today. Specifically, I coded the values 91 and 92 into C_STA_ALC_HandsOffGeschwAusschaltgrenzeMph and
C_STA_ALC_HandsOffGeschwEinsschaltgrenzeMPh. I didn't make any other changes. For reference, I have a 2020 model, which is pre-LCI with iDrive 7 Lite. I had previously coded in lane change assist.

Driving on the highway at 70 mph, the current change seems to have worked in that it doesn't keep bugging me to put my hand on the wheel. However, it seems to have broken lane-change assist. As soon as I activate the turn signal to change lanes, it yells at me to put my hand on the steering wheel and doesn't change lanes. I will have to keep playing with this to better tell what's going on, but it may ultimately come down to a choice of whether I prefer annoyance-free driving or keeping lane change assist.

Any advice on this is most welcome!

I tried C_STA_ALC_HandsOffGeschwAusschaltgrenzeMph and C_STA_ALC_HandsOffGeschwEinsschaltgrenzeMPh on a 2017 G30 (set to 5A for 90mph) they do indeed let you go for an indefinite amount of time without touching the wheel, but the warning doesn't sound when it disengages. I wonder if there's a way to remove the time limit like this, but keep the disengagement warning...

The reason why your hands are not required is because the coding is changing your speed limit for traffic driving assistant which normally disengages at ~30mhp. Then you move into normal driving assistant which has more requirements on keeping your hands in the wheel. It's more of a hack then actually changing the hand requirement. This is why with the new coding when you move from below 30mph(traffic mode) to above 30mph it will request your hands(re-entering traffic mode again) and then you will be good again to no longer touch(unless some road condition requires hands again). I do not think there is a way to keep the audible notification based on these scenarios.

Did anyone find a solution with POST LCI G-30? Other than Highway assist on certain roads I am still looking for a longer hands off option. My 23 G30 with DAP will only go 15-30 seconds maximum. I think the person that posted near the top with the 550 must have had highway assist versus DAP. that is a separate option but did not think Highway assist was available on any G30

I'm sure there must be some coding to modify the time before touching the steering wheel again. That way you would not miss the disconnection audible warning.
