Full Adaptive Headlights - Selective Beam/Anti-Glare Feedback needed from Euro Owners

I'll be getting 540i with Full LED headlights soon, however, since I'm in US we don't get the full feature here. I'm gonna try my best to see if I can code it and get it working.

I wanted to get the Euro guys' opinion on this feature because I was watching a video review from someone in Sweden reviewing the car on a rural road and I believe he was flashed a couple of times from oncoming drivers, while selective bean was engaged i.e. tunnel mode.

Was wondering if people with Adaptive LED Headlights have had similar experiences? If so, how often?

Been living with my F11 adaptive leds (afaik more or less same tech) for past two years now, don't think i've had any issues or any more oncoming traffic flashing at me than before. Or I just don't notice.

Pretty much the only incident I can think of happened when I was driving behind a recent model Audi on a rural road in the dark. I wasn't tailgating, used my ACC at the max setting or so, but my high beams could be seen working their magic past that Audi. I was wondering what the driver was up to there with blinkers and slowing down couple of times, then finally the car pulled over to the side, stopped and then merged back once I drove past. My lights, if I had to guess.

All in all wonderful tech, helps so much when I can drive with high beams on some half the year no matter the traffic around me. Yeah, here in Finland we got that few hours of daylight in winter.

My experience with G12's lasers tells that nothing (I mean the technology - at least not yet) may replace your own eyes (and brain

). This lights are very powerful and it happens from time to time that someone (especially at longer distance) may be blinded by them in high-beam mode. The feature is not precise in 100% (as in case of F10) however the lights are wonderful and when you use it wisely everything works perfect.

I've dazzled plenty of people on country roads because either a) i forgot i had them on or b) I've needed to put them on despite the other car coming towards me in the other carriageway, because i can't see enough on my carriageway.

Well my f ICON LED light are quite selective, with high beam selectively projecting to the side of the road where there are no cars. It has worked perfectly for me so far. I would evaluate more in winter

I ve noticed this on my F15 with adaptive full led : many oncoming drivers flashed me because they "thought" I had full lights which was not the case, because even with normal led lights it s already very bright (they might not be used to it). When it happens I also flash them to show them my full lights are even more bright

Now, that is not the full answer to your question. To be really honest I must admit that this technology is not 100% accurate. It sometimes also does not recognize incoming traffic as soon as a human would do, and if you care too much about this, you will end up spending your time to check if the system actually disabled full lights when it should. Most of the time these glitches happens when oncoming car lights are also hidden by a central crash barrier, which usually means that they also won't see yours (and thus won't be distracted), but in case of trucks, the driver might see your lights because his cabin will be higher.

Can anyone post pics of the underside of Euro headlights so that the LEDs for high-beams are visible? I want to compare it to US one to see if there is any difference in number of LEDs.

I've tried them both and much prefer the standard lights with high beam assist. At least then the on-coming drivers know that you've dipped. With the adaptive lights I was being flashed frequently.
