I've had a couple of instances where CarPlay hangs while on a call. I can end the call using steering wheel button or the phone but not the screen. Screen is non-responsive at least for few mins after which I can use iDrive buttons to exit the screen. I'm running the latest iOS. Anyone experiencing the same issue? Any ideas of a fix?

Here's a short video that I captured when it happened yesterday. You'll notice that the time stamp on the call is stuck at 00.01 even after the call has ended.

I don't have Apple Car Play installed as I find the iDrive GUI to be much better and more stable.

The user experience of Car Play seems to be a mixed bag on the G30, so won't be adding it in the future. BMW charges USD $300 to download Car Play to the car. Too much money for questionable functionality.

It works pretty well in my opinion. BMW has taken care to integrate it well within iDrive. It is pretty much up to the user to use each of the systems for what they are good at. Apple CarPlay is superior on certain things while it makes more sense to use iDrive on others.

I like Carplay. UI is pretty, easy to use, easy to navigate; Apple Music, Audible and overcast have great interfaces on it; texting with Siri work well especially with shorter messages; and Waze will be there soon! And it's been very stable for me. But it doesn't replace iDrive completely. Especially the lack of HUD integration is a deal breaker for navigation.
