Looks very impressive both inside and out. My only query is where is the 'cold air to the face' dial in between the air vents gone? I've had that on every BMW for the past 17 years and would hate to lose it!

Looks like BMW might have removed it. It's really stupid to have a separate control from the main temp switches.

I'm not a big fan of that Mercedes dash myself. I agree with you, this one is more driver oriented, though, not exactly smooth/connected. I mentioned this in the past, the part where dashboard runs down to center console is kinda cut up.

But for me personally, I just have a hard time getting over that navigation screen design, otherwise it's decent looking.

N'ah, I don't agree, just few that are not diehard BMW fanboys, you know the kind that tries to be objective, instead of saying "BMW made it so it must be the best".

Not everyone that criticizes a BMW is automatically a Mercedes fanboy. I love the exterior of the G30 and I think it's class leading in terms of looks, but the E class still looks a lot more upscale inside. I think most of the people "complaining" are doing so because they're true BMW fans who would like to see BMW as better than Mercedes in all aspects.

FWIW BMW hit a home run with the F12 6 series interior - it looked (and still looks) MUCH better than the CLS, A7 and anything else that BMW has on sale today. I wonder why they haven't come up with something that exciting since then. I drove the new 750 with M sport pack and it was luxurious but interior design was pretty average despite having an aggressive exterior. IMHO, of course.

I believe that the feature is still present, just not as a thumb wheel.

If the 5 is anything like the G11 7 Series, the controls are touch capacitive vs. the old thumbwheel layout. Then again, I could be totally off base.

As long as you can still have cold air to the face and warm air in the cabin!

It's not too bad overall, though. Looks nice, but doesnt wow me.

Overall im not impressed with the looks. Hope it drives better than the f10.
My thoughts exactly

Looks to me like they designed a dashboard and then stuck a 8 x 2 shelf over the top of it and abruptly ended it on the passenger side...... would need to see it up close and personal tho for a fairer assessment.

I don't think I like the rear. It looks weird or not well proportioned.

Overall, G30 pics inside and out aren't setting my heather on fire.......those wheels are so non M Sport. The rear lights have reverted to the F11 Touring 2 stripe version which makes them thinner vertically and less........sporty, headlights look thinner as well and give me ratio issues on the front of the car much like the 4.

Overall.......damn, missed opportunity. HOPEFULLY, the reveal tomorrow might calm my initial thoughts down.

We have to remember that not all BMW's had the warm/cool air dial for the vents. The E60 didn't have it, no did the E63/E64. Instead that dial was contained within the iDrive menus as a a separate function from the temp dials.

I won't mind if they've put it back in the iDrive for this generation, I just hope that it's slick enough to use without being a hassle.
