Hi guys

Apologies if this has been asked before but my software version is as follows:

Telephone: TB-006.032.012
Media: MB-006.032.012

Is that the latest version? If not how can I update it (the bmw website hits me with update UPD09041 which says TB-001.... and MB-001.... which means its outdated?

Also, my Carplay after ios13 on my iphone 6S Plus looks nothing like what others are posting. I still have the dirty black screen on the right which shows my phone name!

That's not the istep. That BMW website is pointless. There isn't much benefit you'll get by updating those devices drivers.

As for full screen CarPlay, you won't have it in G30 at the moment unless you get it done via a third party.

The 2020 G30 w/ iDrive 7 does have full screen car play.

The above is not your iDrive firmware, it's just the software patching for the bluetooth stack and other media functionality.

To find your iDrive firmware, here's the steps. Would you please check it and report back which version (letter) is on yours post upgrade (after the rear camera recall fix).

click Map button
click Option button
click Navigation Settings (iDrive)
click Position and software version (iDrive)
click Software version (iDrive)

You'll see NBTevo_X where X is the firmware.

I'm thinking you'll have NBTevo_R. If you have R or later I'm curious if BMW resolved the Spotify iDrive app issue where the HUD would only display "loading" instead of song titles and Forward/Back options.

I confirmed with another ID6 owner that latest istep upgrades Nav to firmware "R".

Next, I'm wondering if this upgrade resolves the Spotify iDrive app issue where it displays "loading" in HUD instead of song title and ability to go to next/previous song. If you're a Spotify user, please let me know. Issue occurs on both iPhone and Android. (must choose Spotify app in car, not just the Bluetooth audio option)

The dealership will not upgrade your CarPlay to widescreen. You will have to go to a third-party. It requires changes to the CarPlay.ini file on the head unit for icon spacing and new resolution.

Edit and I got "free" Spotify, not just HUD, it doesn't even work on CarPlay... though that was on the first version of iOS 13, not sure now

Thanks to you guys on this thread I requested an istep upgrade after two years of ownership. This was carried out without demur and moved me from NBTevo M173651 to S193221

It introduced a few new menu items that I don't remember being present, no changes to personal buttons and settings but had to repair Bluetooth phone.
