Thanks. Nice enough day today except for the winds. 18-25MPH is no fun to ride in. But I had a ton of late season yard work anyway, so I got my calorie burn in.

Me and "The Hern" went and rode for 55 minutes on Sunday, just before lunch. BEAUTIFUL So-Cal Fall day. Low 70s, slight breeze, loads of sun.

Then I came home and finished with the rose trimming, and decided to upgrade the Trek from that spot in the one shed that requires a severe dead-lift to close the door, to hooks in with the motorcycle's shed.

Oh, and then I put on just my vest, in shorts and rubber boots, and went for about 10 miles on the motorcycle, just to mix the oil around.

If you have drinks and women, then what is the need for porn? If you're watching porn with women, then you're doing it wrong. Sure you can watch it together, but in my experience (if it's being done right) what's going on in front of you should eliminates the need for porn anyway.

Also, if these three things eliminate all your problems then your life must be pretty decent. No mention of finances, mental or physical health?

society is all about immediate gratification. we humans are wired for it. so much easier to rub one out then to work for it. also with courting women comes rejection. i used to have this mentally at 21; just fuck around get paper, but thats dying out slowly. i still wish i didn't beat it as much but im tired of easy girls/porn...need a challenge or its just all blahh

I'm with you on this! I got tired of easy as well and got myself an actual girlfriend. I got lucky though, it's the easiest relationship I've ever had. Chasing paper will always be a thing though. Even if you had a challenge and a steady girl, you'd still beat that shit!

I'm a moron. For whatever reason I don't know, but I never changed the clock on my nightstand over the weekend. All other clocks were changed.

For the past few days, when I wake up and look at it, I know it's an hour earlier than the time on the clock. This morning I looked at it and just got out of bed. I went downstairs and made my coffee and went about my morning routine. I didn't realize until 30 minutes later that it was 3:00 am and not 4:00 am. Someone shoot me! It's going to be a long day.

And yes, the clock is now changed.

LOL....when you get up at the time that we do....does it really even matter anymore?

I'm usually up no later than 2:30 am every morning, and in bed by 10:00 pm every night.

It's getting earlier and earlier. What happened to the days when the only time I saw 4:00 am was at the END of the day?

My commute is nothing really. I'm usually in work by 6:30 am. This morning I pulled out of my driveway at 5:32, went to Starbucks and was in my office at 6:03. Going home takes a bit longer with almost rush hour traffic at 4:20 pm, 45 minutes for 18 miles compared to 22 miles in the morning due to Starbucks being one exit further than my office.

I don't get up that early because I have to, I get up that early because the clock in my brain says it's time to get up.

I roll out of bed at "whenever the fuck I feel like it" am. I stop by my espresso machine on the way to my desk so the entire 30 foot commute from bed to work takes about 5 minutes to make my latte.

that's... very early, wow

I'm really not a fan of the way the working hours are laid. Most people (for some really fucky reason) prefer to leave work early; I'd much rather stay 9-5 than 8-4. This one company that I was really keen on working for said their hours during the week are 8-4.30, and fridays are 8-2pm. Like, why? What's the point of coming in so early, 4.30pm and 5.30pm will not make a big difference in what you end up doing that night. I just don't get it

I honestly think this is the world's greatest luxury that nothing can compare. Waking up without an alarm is just so satisfying and great! Not even about the working from home thing, I'd be so happy if I could not set an alarm during the week

Maybe the business needs you there more between 8:00 and 9:00 than they do between 4:30 and 5:30. It's not all about the employees wants and needs. It's about the business wants and needs. If your specific job has nothing to do with the outside world, maybe they just want a uniform work day for all employees.

I see your point (I did not turn them down because of this btw, dw) but look at it this way: if the days weren't structured so then people that you rely on externally wouldn't cause a need for the employees at 8 in the morning, no?

The cost of living in the city is very high, I'm really not making what I thought I would be as an engineer. Rent near the office is $1500-2000 for a studio, and the lower end of that spectrum barely gets you laundry in unit... This means I either have to suck it up and have to be good with my mouth to blow the bosses well enough to be promoted quickly, or live outside the city and have an 45min-1h commute

I really should've just bought a house or made an investment or something instead of blowing upwards of $250k in school, terrible mistake

I used to have to be at work at around 9am. Woke up at 8am. Took shower took about 15min. then drove to work with plenty of time.

Even during weekend I woke up at 8am anyway. No big deal.

It depends what type of job and interaction you have with others; think customer facing. If my customers start at 8:00, I can't have my people come in at 9:00. On the flip side, if I have customers on the west coast I need coverage here later.

I feel for you man. When I first came out of school, I was hired as the Electrical Engineer of a small Distribution company. The pay wasn't really what I thought it would be, but things were also a lot cheaper back then.

But just getting the experience under your resume is where you will start to make things happen. Next I went into a chemical company..and they had a training budget for the Engineering group. I maxed mine out every year while the other guys didn't care about it. If I could find a certification that pertained to my job..I was doing it.

But it took me 20 years to get into my current position which is Engineering Manager. I have a ME and CE that report to me...and also the maintenance department.

And if you recall the recent bitching I did on here about my position..I did get a salary/bonus increase. I also got the IT department as well. But that came from the fact that when I had a budget for training, I was doing A+, Network +, Cisco, and MSCE training that was paid for by the other company.

Two totally different fields, but I made it work. I'm actually compensated very well now...but I had to "claw and scratch" every bit of the way as nothing was ever given to me.

But hang in there and kick ass. Develop contacts and Network with others...and word will get out about your abilities. That is when things start opening up for you!
