It has something to do with the fuel tank purge valve/evap system, I believe. I remember it popping an error code on my N20 at one point so my indy replaced the fuel tank purge valve.

I think I have this issue. Check Engine light came on and the code is P147E - EVAP System Leak Detection Module Circuit Low. I don’t recall receiving the Warranty Extension notice that you did - but hopefully repair/replacement will be covered regardless. 79K mi on my 2017 540xi.

When the vehicle is parked, it is a small pump that very slightly pressurizes air into the fuel tank and EVAP system to make sure there are no fuel vapour leaks into the atmosphere. It monitors the current of the pump, to determine if the system is sealed of has a leak.

Took my 2017 540xi to BMW of Bloomfield (NJ) today and they confirmed that my NVLD is the reason for my CEL. They said my VIN was not included by the extended warranty and I would be responsible for the $1,558 replacement. I took the car and plan to push BMW NA to cover the replacement. Anyone else been through this?
