On my '18 G30 540i I have the 669M wheels with the sizes you asked about - they seem fine to me, just need to be wary of potholes.

Are you still running this tire size? I'm wondering if anyone has experiences any problems with running it long term. What are the disadvantages of running the bigger tires, if any...?

Any advice is appreciated. My local tire guy tells me they will fit but isn't sure if there will be problems in the long run.
Hi there, I've been running those tire sizes over a year. Never a scrap or rub from the tires. My car is Xdrive too.

My summer setup is 245/35/21 and 275/30/21
7 series 629 wheels in liquid black. 8.5" 25mm offset & 10" 41mm offset

My winter setup is 245/40/20 and 275/35/20 G30 759 Individual wheel. With ECS spacers 10mm front spacer & 15mm spacer on the rear.

Is the above 245/40/20 and 275/35/20?

I am also considering this size non-runflats on 759i wheels. Currently with 245/35 and 275/30.

Hello Norris,

Thanks for your response (seeing it quite late ). Another question, if this is fine with you - have you had any issues with this size? What are you setting in the iDrive as tire size and overall how is the car behaving?

Thanks!

Local Discount Tire store told me thay had problems with drive train errors showing up when they did this with an X6. Have you had any error codes or other problems which showed up? I would be interested in increasing my wheel diameter by 5mm in the future, as I have recently popped two Goodyear Asymmetric F1s on potholes. I switched to Michelin PS3 ZPs in stock sizes, and love them, but would still consider increasing by 5mm if I could be assurred it would work.

Higher profile tires

That is exactly what I put on my 2018 540x. It came with 245/35/20 and 275/30/20 but with the horrible potholes around here both front tires developed bubbles. I went up one aspect ratio to 245/40/20 and 275/35/20 and the ride is better and potholes don't feel like you just drove off the end of the road. Personally, I wouldn't go up any more. These seem to fit well and I think they look better.

Thank you, it's a replica M performance style lip in gloss black. It's plastic instead of carbon fibre...
it's 3 pieces, I didn't install the two parts that go on the air dam & side of the bumper.
I only installed the bottom lip.

No issues at all. I have it set to 275/30/20 on the idrive.

For my summer setup I'm actually running the following setup:
Bmw 629 style 21" 7 series wheels
Tires are pilot sport 4s
255/35/21 8.5" wheel
295/30/21 10" wheel

Hi all

Looking for long term updates from those of you on this thread who upgraded the side wall by 5mm in the stock 668 rims. Anyone have any recent issues?

Just got my 2020 and will need to swap out within a month before the bad weather. I'm probably going w 245/40/20 275/35/20. The ride isn't as bad as I thought on stock but I really don't want to deal with punctures later on.

Thanks!

So far so good! I've put 13,000km / 8,125miles & no issues so far.

I've upgraded the side walls by 5% this weekend and so far so good. The tires barely clear the wheel well but should be fine unless I crush a pot hole but then I'll have bigger issues than rubbing.

The car does feel a little heavier when turning and slightly less agile but maybe it's just me. I can Def see the benefit of lowere side wall summer tires though. More rubber means less handling. Got it.

Thanks! I took the plunge...see pic below. I really like not having to use spacers. They fit flush and I like the aggressive look.

I now have these goodies I need to offload...

Hey, I'm thinking of going up 5mm as well, but similarly wanted to go to 255 and 295. Are you sure you're not having any rubbing? You're effectively increasing the ride height by further 2mm front and 4mm back by going 255/295 vs 245/275. What ET are you running please?

Thanks!

I have the 7 series wheels.
Fronts are 8.5" x21" offset is 25mm
Rears are 10"x21" offset is 41mm.

The front tires have slightly rubbed a few times when I'm backing out of a steep driveway while I turn a certain way. If I'm going straight no rubbing at all. Only when I'm in reverse with a passenger in the front and half a turn to the left. Towards the end of the summer they weren't rubbing anymore. not sure if it was because the tires wore out or the inner fender liners wore out lol

These were on a 2017 540i xdrive, m sport suspension, didn't have the adaptive suspension.

I will be trying this setup in a couple of months on my 2018 M550i which has the adaptive suspension. It sits slightly lower. So hopefully it doesn't rub any where else.

I wanted to report back to you on the tire pressure setup. I noticed my rear winter tires were wearing out more in the center. Which means they were over inflated. I realized that increasing the profile size on 20" tires means you have same tire height/profile as 19".

If you're running 20" wheels with 5% taller profile, setup the air pressure as if you have 19".

When I have my 21" wheels I would use the 20" recommended tire pressure because than it's profile of 35/30.
