Bluestone 540i xDrive - slight modifications

Bluestone Metallic with Ivory white Nappa

2017 540i xDrive: M-Sport, M-Sport Brakes, Luxury Seating Package, Nappa, ACC Stop & Go, Harman Kardon, Parking Assistant. Then more common options like wireless charging, HUD, gesture control, etc.
  • Removed ///M badges on fenders
  • Installed IND Distribution painted front reflectors
  • Installed BMW gloss black kidney grilles
  • Installed floating BMW wheel center caps
  • Retrofitted the touch screen HVAC control unit with ceramic knobs
  • Removed air bag stickers from fabric sun visors (will post a short DIY on this)
Coded the following with the Carly app:
  • Removed legal disclaimers
  • Removed pop-up notification for volume adjustment
  • Switched to Rolls Royce chimes and gongs

PLANNED:
  • Paint the chrome door handle trim in body color or replace handles
  • Debadge xDrive and 540i or replace with gloss black
  • IND Distribution Bluestone Metallic license plate frame
  • Bav Sound ghost subwoofers or a similar subwoofer replacement
  • Code: higher seat heater temperature, removal of the animated splash screen when starting car, any setting to increase the HVAC airflow or distribution, and maybe full-screen CarPlay

Weather sucks. Will post better photos eventually.

How difficult was it to get those IND painted reflectors installed? Being that I'm on a lease I think I'd have to put the amber ones back before turning in the vehicle.

Looking forward to more photos.

This is the fourth time Iíve installed painted reflectors, and this car was the easiest so far. In the IND DIY, they unscrewed and peeled back the plastic trim in the wheel well arches. I did that for the first side, but not for the second without a problem. Thereís enough room in the air duct from the M Sport bumper to the wheel well to apply heat and work the glue.

Buy a cheap heat gun, if you donít have one. Every time Iíve used a blow dryer, and then 2 minutes in I say I shouldíve bought a basic heat gun. Once the glue holding the orange reflector heats up, itís really not that hard to remove the reflector and the old glue.

I turned in two leases with painted reflectors, and no one at the BMW dealership said anything about the reflectors.

I saw this on e-bay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-BMW-G30...gAAOSwQpZdg491

Seems like it might be ok if you have a white or black car, or have a bunch of carbon fiber trim going on already.

Anyway for 11 bucks, I'll give it a whirl. Those guys at IND are asking quite a bit of coin for a painted reflector.

On a white car I might even be happy with a clear reflector, but I have not seen those for sale for a G30 yet.

The IND painted reflectors are expensive, but the paint and clear coat are a perfect match. Also, Iím never had an issue with the adhesive keeping the reflector in place. I feel like itís a good value compared to $110 for their painted 540i badge.
