I am gonna hate if bmw makes a X6 and X5. BMW use to bash Mercedes for making trucks that were AMG which didnt really show a true performance automobile, but now they are gonna do the same.\

IMHO the old X5 4.8i was close enough to a M without needing the M since it wasnt a big time performer.

I must say, although I love the high revving NAs, I would own an M right now if it was turbo. Some people just like boosted cars better.

Seriously, the exclusiveness that made an M car an M car is gone. It's going the AMG route now..available for all model.

The 335i is my second turbo car and I don't think I can go back to n/a unless its an M5 or GT3. Boost is addicting...

NA > FI. sorry fanboys. NA is just less that can go wrong and raw power is very desirable to many...after all, that's how the M division has been for eternity. i think this is a ludicrous move on bmw's part. yes, i know you can tune your turbos to a gazillion psi, etc. but that just opens the door for more trouble and maintenance. i'm going to miss NA engines in these cars because that's what makes them so good. what about the track? that's the M car's habitat. 335's already have issues on hot days at the track, i can only imagine what it'll be like with a monster TT V8. it's a damn shame.

Nobody said you had to tune the turbo.

The only thing I like about NA engines now is the linearity of the power delivery. Otherwise a turbo engine is just way more efficient.

Besides, the M3 already sold out track-wise by packing 200 lbs over the current 335 and around 300-400 pound more than the previous M3

boosted > NA in most cases at lesat. Boosted engine doesn't necessarily have more problems, it's just BMW sux at it.

there are plenty of car companies boost their cars with no problem. remember Supra? 300ZX? SKyline GTR? of course, all those are Japanese.. maybe the problem is German cars just aint reliable be it NA or Boosted engines

not like the M3s never had problems with their NA engines... The wonderful E46 M3 engine had a crap load of issues even though it is one of the best NA I6 performance engine ever made (when it works).

2nd that. They brag abt engine technology. Now its sets to be another 4G63 engine used for generations with just turbo "evolutions". Looks like my next car wont be an M. This probably would be my first and last m3 if that were true. I still say the Japs make the most reliable turbos this far.
