New to me '18 540i M Sport
Hey everyone -- just introducing myself and my 2018 540i M Sport. After many years of owning Porsches and Audis (and 4Runners), I'm trying out a BMW. I owned an E28 528e a few decades ago, and I've been searching for an E28 M5, but luckily stumbled upon the 540i. I've had her (my daughter has named her, 'Kalessa') for a couple of weeks now; so far, I'm very pleased! Previous owner installed M Performance rear lip, rear diffuser, side mirror caps, and big brake kit. Pics of her below (as well as my other current rides). Glad to be here!

Cool, don't see too many with that brake kit installed. Good color combo.

On the positives: Compared to my Porsches and my Audi S4, the power delivery seems 'effortless' because of how quiet and smooth it is. 0-60 acceleration is 0.5-1.0 seconds slower compared to the other cars, but feels just as fast due to size and response (can't feel the turbo lag), although can't match 'off-the-line' traction of Audi (quattro) and Porsche (rear-engine weight). Technology is lightyears ahead, especially in the area of parking aids. Lastly, interacting with BMWs feels more logical than Audis; e.g. BMW scroll wheel turns the right way! Driver position is in between Audis and Porches (good compromise; Audi driving position tend to sit like crossovers). On the flip side: I can definitely feel the weight when applying the brakes (even with the larger brake setup). Run-flat tires must go - dullness in steering feel is very noticeable! Exterior build quality feels better than Audi, but still behind "one solid piece of material" feeling of Porsche (if that makes sense). Lastly, chimes, ding, dongs, warnings for everything, is a bit annoying. Overall, very pleased so far.
