545e and m340i(MHT) on UK configurator

Looks like BMW have made a number of UK configurator changes to go with the M3 and M4 launch. The 545e model has been added and the M340i now lists MHT (the 48v tech) as part of its spec.

They've also added M seats to the 340i but strangely only in Cognac.

(You can tell I'm in replacement car mode right!)

I wish they'd made the 545e in a Touring. We're waiting on delivery of a 540i, but would have loved the extra power and the chance to make short journeys on battery power. Must be something to do with the boot space, I guess.

At least you get the 545e. Here in the US, BMWNA in its infinite wisdom (yeah...right) decided not to bring it in.

That's very true. We are also lucky they've just brought the M550i here. Hopefully they will sell well enough so they'll still be available when I no longer need a touring!

Here in the U.K. if you spec a 545e M Sport with Nappa, Technology Plus & Comfort Plus it lists at £ 71,000 - $ 91,000 which is a lot of money for a non M 5 Series

True but it is not really competitive with an M car. It meets different needs. If one needs/wants an M car, one shouldn't get the phev. But if one wants/needs a phev (for driving in London for example), then the 545e is IMHO a much better choice than the 530e if one cars about performance and then it comes down to whether a particular buyer/lessee is willing to spend the extra bucks.

Steve - Sorry but I meant £ 71k for a plug-in is a lot of money, it’s not an M but getting towards that territory in terms of price. Here, with the massive discounts on the 7 series you can get a built to order 745e for less than a similar spec 545e which is bizarre !

But I don't want such a big car. In fact, if I could get it configured like I like, I would prefer a 3 series or even a 2 series.
