Omg omg (I sound like a teenager) according to MyBMW my 540ix is "in transit" to the dealership! Left earlier than expected. Need to check with genius on delivery date to dealer... should only be a couple of days right?
No 5 series record on fueleconomy.gov yet although the 530i is listed under 2021 M category... so the website sounds like a mess. |

It takes time for fueleconomy.gov to update. The engineering holds were taken off my M550xi a few days before the government got around to updating the website.

I preferred Marine Traffic myself, sometimes the Satellite position updates show up when the ship is too far from land. https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais...427871/zoom:14

The car is at the Performance Center!
After many months since I placed the original order, the car has made it to the Performance Center!
The Delivery Experience is set for September 1st. I'll post more once I take delivery.

Final timeline for my car - from order to delivery.
This is the final timeline I'll provide.
(Read: Event: Date - Elapsed days since production number assigned (Amplifying comments.) Production number received (Status 111): 5/28 - Day 0 (BMW reflects some, but not all of the options from my original order.) Scheduled for production (Status 112): 5/29 - 1 Day elapsed from production number. (I made some changes to the configuration at this point due to the LCI dropping some options, but since the car hadn’t begun production, it did not impact the timeline. The changes were committed on 6/5/2020.) The car entered production and a VIN was assigned (Status 150): 6/16 – Day 19 (Any changes to the options, etc. after this point would have delayed the build of the car.) Exterior body assembly and painting (Status 151 & 152): 6/29 – Day 32 Entered the assembly line (Status 153): 6/30 – Day 33 Assembly in progress, quality check, final assembly, ready for transport, and awaiting carrier assignment (Status 155 & 182): 7/1 – Day 34 (A total of 3 days to build the car, including a 24 hour delay (probably for the paint to complete curing, the next dayshift, etc.) On the train to Bremerhaven (Status 190): 7/2 – Day 35 At the Port of Bremerhaven (Status 193): 7/3 – Day 36 In transit (on the Ro Ro Ship HORIZON HIGHWAY – Status 195): 7/8 – Day 41 I lost updated tracking on the ship on 7/14 (Day 47) after it made a couple of port visits and headed out across the Atlantic. Rather than paying for the Satellite tracking (or playing the sign up for 7 days free, and sign up again), I waited for the ship to get in range of a U.S. east coast shore AIS station, which happened Friday (7/24 - Day 57) as the ship approached the Chesapeake Bay. From Bremerhaven to Baltimore, total transit time was 22 days (the ship docked on 7/25 – Day 58). The ship then left Baltimore for Brunswick, GA on 7/27 (Day 60) and docked in Brunswick on 7/29 (Day 62). The Horizon Highway left Brunswick on 7/31 (Day 64) and docked at Charleston on 8/1 (Day 65). The car was un-loaded on 8/1 (Day 65) and began processing at the port on 8/3 (Day 67). On 8/5 (Day 69), my CA informed me that the car had cleared the engineering holds (likely due to emissions inspection for the new MY cars) and the PDC was scheduling delivery for 9/1 (Day 96). The car was transported to the Performance Center on 8/20 (marked as 'in transit' again on the website), and arrived on 8/21 (Day 85). [The car is only moved from the port to the Performance Center with less than two weeks to the delivery date established between the Performance Center and you.] So, 96 calendar days from production number assignment to delivery at the PDC in South Carolina. I think that number is the more realistic benchmark to be aware of, because... If we count from the day I placed the order and put down the deposit, it's taken six months, bearing in mind that includes the impact of the pandemic - which included a month long shutdown at the factories in Germany, and the delay caused by BMW's cancellation of all 2020 MY production of the M550i as production resumed, which converted the orders into 2021 MY cars. If I had requested a 'standard' delivery at the dealership, I would likely have taken delivery of the car no later than Day 65, in the last week of July. Choosing to take delivery at the Performance Center in this case added a month to the timeline. More to come on whether the Performance Center Delivery Experience is worth the wait.

About damn time. I have no idea why it's taken so long. It should have been up on the first day customers could place an order for an LCI 5 series.

That's great Doc....won't be long now. Can't wait for your report on the delivery and your drive back home. Hope you have good weather for it all. BTW, I keep looking for the first review on youtube...shouldn't be long I wouldn't think. Cheers.

Need some guidance from the navigators here
Per my CM the horizon higway is supposed to arrive to Brunswick on sep 7th ( this is the port closest to jacksonville) But when I go to the marine traffic website it says the vessel is going to Baltimore On the same date instead Is there a way to Verify car is in this vessel ( placing the bill of landing, etc?) Hopefully this is a extra stop before coming here |

As far as exact arrival time is concerned, what you get off Marine Traffic is probably more current than the schedule on K-Line's website. The schedule may be printed, but the ship can encounter loading delays, mechanical problems, weather, etc. enroute. Marine Traffic should be reflecting the actual departure day/times and expected arrival day/time the ship (and its navigator) are reporting via the automated systems on-board. For the moment, the ship will dock Baltimore on the 7th, and then head to Brunswick, arriving probably on the 10th (assuming a 24 hour layover in Baltimore, and a three day trip to Brunswick.

Mine arrived at the dealer last Friday the 21nd, but they are saying that they can't schedule my delivery until next Tuesday the 1st! They say that they had over 40 sold cars arrive at the end of last week and they are working to catch up with the volume. But I think they just blew way past their August quotas and are delaying deliveries until September. Not happy.

I went to sign the paperwork today and if it gets registered, will be picking it up tomorrow! It's still wrapped in shrink wrap but boy it was a sweet looking ride - more aggressive on the tail than I expected
Even took it for a test drive - such a plush ride. Managed to get logged in via ConnectedDrive and I'm monitoring it using remote 3D view sitting at the dealer See attachments... |

Paperwork signed!
I signed the paperwork with my CA yesterday afternoon. We're all set for the Performance Center Delivery next Tuesday (9/1).
I'll post more details on the paperwork signing, and expectations for the delivery in my Performance Center Delivery thread: https://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1746236

Picked up the 540xi today! She’s wonderful. The adaptive cruise was insane. Hardly had to touch the steering wheel. I will admit those 19” runflats are a stiffer ride than I was hoping for but I can adapt for now.

Congrats - looks great. So, the adaptive cruise does a great job steering the car? Does it also show cars around you on live cockpit? How is the bigger screen? Any other new stuff you discovered?
