Ship Docked in Baltimore

The Horizon Highway docked in Baltimore in the wee hours of today (7/26). The shipping line's current schedule has her departing on 7/28 for Brunswick, Georgia before heading to Charleston, SC.

So, let's see if they off load my car in Baltimore and transport it to the Performance center (once it clears EPA processing, BMW processing, etc. in the port), or it spends another week on the ship.

The vehicle inquiry report from my CA said 'BALPOA' for Baltimore Port of Arrival, so I'm thinking it's going to be offloaded and then sent overland.

Hi Doc, If the inquiry report says "BALPOA", I think your car is getting on dry land right now. My PSD, 6 years ago, did go to Charleston though. Do you have a PSD date yet? It took awhile to get a date as I remember........loved the PSD day though. I'm still stuck on "scheduled for production"......getting anxious, but also enjoying the anticipation.

No, no PSD date yet. The car is on an 'engineering hold', likely until the EPA is happy it meets emissions requirements. I'm keeping an eye on the fueleconomy.gov website to see when the 2021 M550i is listed.

I expect processing, etc. to take at least part, if not most of the upcoming week, and then I should get a delivery date.

Thanks!

Oh well, hopefully, it will be in by the time I get back from vacation at the end of August.

Car going to Charleston, SC

I spoke to my CA today and the car is going to be off-loaded in Charleston, SC for the PDC delivery.

So, the car is still on board the Horizon Highway, currently not due to dock in Charleston until 8/3 (next Monday).

At least it's on this side of the Atlantic now.

Closer and closer

I must say, the 2021 changes are an absolute revelation in terms of 5 series looks. I didn't care for almost any of the prior wheels but they're beautifully sporty now in most sizes in the LCI.

M550i is a best and now available in the U.K. for the first time since the LCI.

Enjoy when you get!!

Yea! My day has come! "Production start" today........adventurine red, mocha, all packages except the chassis upgrade since my tracking days are over. Looks like I was pushed up a couple weeks but we will see. Maybe early Sept. delivery, I hope. Again, " Yea!".

Thanks. I'm definitely looking forward to it. Four or five days until it's on-shore and then another week or so for processing and shipment to the PDC in Greer, SC. I'll share the delivery date when I have it.

And now we have a Tropical Storm/Hurricane to deal with...

Looks like the port of Charleston will be brushed by/possibly hit by Tropical Storm Isaias on the day the ship is supposed to make port.

I'm guessing the Horizon Highway leaves for Charleston early to beat the storm.

Sheesh. It's always one more thing with this order.

I may need to start drinking at this point.

Wow Doc! One more thing, right? However, if everything else going on in the world hasn't diminished your fine whiskey stock, I doubt this bump in the road will do it. On the other hand, a nice "red" while reexamining your build order might just be what you, "the doctor", ordered.

My 2021 M550 was originally due for week 34
automated 1-800 number says car is in the "paint booth" to be completed 7/31/2020
"My BMW" website states car is "entering assembly line"

called BMW genius today and told me car to be done week 34??
I asked him if it possible for a car to be built taking so much time (no individual options chosen) and he said yes
at the same time I told him that the automated system says car will be finished tomorrow but he could not confirm that
I though that the BMW genius had more updated info than automated ones
