New 540 Ordered!

Well, I did it again. Just placed an order for a 2021 540i xDrive.

19" M Y-spoke bi-color jet black wheels, style 845M with all-season tires
Black Nappa Leather
Fine Wood Open-pored Ash Grain Trim

Having returned my leased 2017 540i xDrive in June, I was holding off on replacing my vehicle until things settled down with the pandemic. I originally wanted a change after 14 years with the brand -- looking at an Audi A6 and a Mercedes E450, but ...

(1) I found both of the vehicles to not stand up to the 5 series in terms of value and performance

(2) I was intrigued by the subtle LCI changes (headlights, grill, taillights, iDrive 7 / Live Cockpit Pro, larger iDrive screen)

(3) My trusted, long-time BMW Advisor, once again, took very good care of me on this $78k car

Waiting on an assigned build date. So sad European Delivery is no longer a thing. Excited to see my new ride in late October / early November.

I like your selections. It is unfortunate that BMW has stopped offering the leather dash. I have the Nappa upholstery and the leather dash and the leather dash is Nappa and sets off the interior nicely.

The only thing I would change is the color of the upholstery. I prefer more contrast between the interior and exterior but there aren't a lot of Nappa choices (I went with Mocha) and many, presumably including you, prefer black interiors.

Try not to go crazy waiting and enjoy your new ride.

Agreed ... I wish the leather dash was still available but at least the SensaTec one is slightly upgraded from the standard one. As for the interior color, I had mocha nappa on my last 5 series with a black sapphire exterior. After 3 years, I wanted a change so went back to black. (Ivory would only get dirty after a few days!)

My ivory interior stays pretty clean, but then the kids are grown and moved out and I'm kind of OCD when it comes to keeping it clean.

I haven't played with the configuration yet because I still have a year+ on my lease. Don't want to tempt myself...

Wow, saw your last post regarding your decision between the E450, A6, and this... gotta say you made the right decision! That is a sweet looking spec, can't wait for the updates. I'd probably be as impulsive if not more if I were in your situation to buy

As soon as I have updates, I will post them. I've ordered so many BMWs over the years but I have to say this one I am particularly excited about.

That's the exact color I would go with as well, but my wife likes the simple alpine white. We just submitted our build on Friday. The wait begins. Keep us posted!

I had it 2 cars ago on my last F10. I loved it. Can't wait for it again.
