540xi or X3 M40i

Time as come to get another car but with new refresh 2021 G30, it looks so much nicer. I haven't driven either car yet. Have you guys had any experience on which you will choose? It will be mostly a second car for me and my wife in case other person is out of the house

The decision may be dependent on how you want to use the vehicle. X3 if you may haul stuff ... but upfront, it is not as comfortable/roomy as a G30 Sedan.

If I had a 2 car setup, I'd have a G30 540i M and and an X3 M40. I am a Sedan guy because usually they are quieter (lower) and the 5 is roomier, especially in the front, over the 3. I will feel more relaxed after a long trip in the 540i.

We have an X5 but I heard a lot complaints of G30 owners and G01.

On the G30 Sedan, the AC apparently had early issues. My Preowned Cert had the issue. Told my SA the center vents were weak, they researched it and found the issue - big foam pads blocking vents were replaced by ... smaller foam pads. Runs like a champ now. May be other issues but that was a big one for many.

I would just get the 5er, if this is a second car to just use when the spouse is out, unless you are using the practicality of the SUV or just want a higher ride height, the X3 doesn't benefit much outside of being cheaper.

If you just need an occasional second car, maybe opt for the M2.

I actually have x3 as a loaner right now and I feel is low to the ground and feel like I'm in a car. Trunk doesn't seem all too big for an SUV. It is comfortable so might need to go to the dealer to drive both side by side

I would also try a 3er out. Like I said, if you aren't using the trunk or already have an SUV, I don't see too much of a reason in going for an SUV over a sedan, coupe or vert. Maybe an M2 would be a fun 2nd car!

M2 is sold out and car seat won't be fun in it lol

Both cars need to have car seats just in case. We had a c43 and trunk space was awful where I put stroller in there and entire trunk is filled.
