540 deserving of praise

A little over a year in, I have been very satisfied with our 540. The car has an invigorating powertrain coupled with an outstanding balance of handling and compliance. The car feels light on its feet and the turn in is sharp. The interior is great too! Overall, I feel that BMW really did a nice job on this car.

Agreed. I've had mine only 2 months but I couldn't agree more in terms of my experience so far.

I'm still waiting for my car but posts like these make me more excited for delivery!

22,000 miles on mine. A lot of problems 1st 3 months (3000 miles) but after all kinks fixed, car has been excellent. I have one of first models made so this was expected.

11,500 miles. My 7th BMW including for reference E46 ZHP, E92 335is, E92 M3, F80 M3, E60 535, etc.

No issues so far.

You will NOT be disappointed

I agree with much of what you said

13 months later my only regret is that the exhaust fitted to the 540 is just way too silent. It hardly makes any noise beyond the first 30 secs after start up !!

I am 1 year in at 15k miles.

No issues at all other than an obsession with modifications!!

Great car. You are going to love it.

Yep - same here. A year after buying my 540, I've finally decided to get the MPPSK fitted. Hopefully that will liven up that sound a bit.

Yep - same here. A year after buying my 540, I've finally decided to get the MPPSK fitted. Hopefully that will liven up that sound a bit.

I've had mine for 323 km. 6hours old and the main instrument cluster failed. Also 7 iDrive failures such as active Cruise failure, night Vision failure, active steering fail etc but I guess they are all related.

Took it back to the stealer and there it sits for just on 2 weeks now.

Ordered in early sept 2018. Picked up April 13. Returned to dealer April 15.

But. For the few hours I had the car I loved it.

Hi Symo. Sorry to hear about your problems. I was actually wondering if you’d got your car yet and here’s the answer. It’s probably just a bug in the CPU or some electronic component that needs replacing. I’m sure you’ll be back on the road soon. Mine hasn’t given me any cause for complaint in 1.5 years except for a low coolant warning. The dealer fixed it under warranty. Turns out there was nothing wrong with the car. It was a blockage due to the system not having been prepped correctly in pre-delivery. Keep us posted and hope to see some photos soon.

I’ve had mine a year and a half and 20,000 miles. Best vehicle I’ve owned (and I’ve had a lot) by far and zero problems.

Usually by now I’m antsy for a new car. Not with this one. And my next will be another 5.

It's an awesome car. I love it. Eventually I'm going to write an extensive review of the car. I just need some free time, which I don't have a lot of.

540i is my favorite car ever, among the ones I've owned. Perfect balance of driving fun, comfort, luxury, tech. Butter smooth, super fast, well built, comfortable, planted... It's amazing...

I have to agree with everything above. My 540ixM is a perfect balance of luxury and sport. In comfort mode it is acts as a sport luxury sedan. In sport+ mode it's a blast to drive. Got mine in Dec '18 and it has 2k miles without a single problem. Did I just jinx myself.

Yes. It was a wait and was delighted when the car arrived. Stuff happens I guess and just need wait.

Wife has a 10 year old X-535d and that has been a great car. No real issues. A injector failed last year and that's about it with it. Hope my car is the same
