I just installed BM3 stage 1 on my 2018 540i a few days ago. It's running great except there is one issue. When the vehicle is cold and I go to start it, the engine fires right up to about 2000 rpm and then shuts off about 1 second later. If I start it again there are no issues and it stays running. The codes that I get on BM3 is:

1F1AA4 = DME: internal error [software reset: software faulty]
CDA728: FA-CAN, message (status display combination, 0x1B3): missing

I tried flashing back to stock and re-locking the DME and the car cold starts just fine. I flashed back to BM3 and tried the multimap as well as a single 93 map and the issue persists. Anyone have any ideas?

MikeS300 Have you reached out to PTF tech support? They are usually good at resolving these things quickly.

I did reach out to support and unfortunately they are being slow. They responded on Monday rather quickly asking for screenshots of the codes and then went silent. I emailed again this morning so we'll see where this goes. Really cool tune though, just embarrassing to have to start my car twice.

Did you try downloading the tune first then flashing instead of one step? Seems like BM3 doesn't like doing the download and flash all in one go.

I have a support ticket that has been open for over 2 weeks and they just keep telling me that they are looking into the issue.

Mike, we'd need a local Gen1 G series vehicle to test on and at the moment we don't have one. It isn't 'crickets' from our end, just lack of a test car for the moment. Looking into the issue really at this moment can be further classified as looking for a local test vehicle.

Auto-lowerpowermode was built for Gen2 G series vehicles and we tested on a local Gen1 G series X3 M40i which confirmed no alarm just as the other Gen2 vehicles we were testing on such as a Supra, Z4 M40i and a G80 M3.

I appreciate the response. Perhaps you should start with updating the product description your website to be more specific about low power mode compatibility. Additionally, as you can see from another thread that you responded to, I am having connectivity issues with the new adapter and at least 2 forum members are getting frustrated.

So for those of you with the annoying engine shut off and 1F1AA4 code on cold start, it looks like proTUNING Freaks support finally gave me something to try and it worked! The suggestion was to delete all downloaded maps from my phone. Then, go ahead and download any OTS Map. Then, instead of just pressing the "flash" button, they instructed me to choose "Force Flash and Unlock". So far after 2 days I no longer have to start my car twice when it is cold.

Mine also worked eventually too. Bmw had to do a SW upgrade on my car anyway. Luckily it didn't lock the DME and just redownload maps and reflashed. No issues since.
