Hear you on the color combo, it’s tough when picking off a lot. Bright side is you mentioned changing cars every 2-3 years maybe you can get out of this lease as soon as another compelling option shows up (G60?).

I find the standard hi-fi system on the 5 quite capable, it’s better than the stock system on 3 series and the x3, perhaps it falls a tad short to the HK audio option. Some bass and treble adjustments have helped a bit from the idrive.

I thought it would but it doesn’t 😩. I could’ve sworn it came with it but I was confusing a 530 that I saw with the exact same specs. I was so mad when I was driving home and didn’t see the HK. 😩😩

That’s wild. I had no idea. Our X7 has the HiFi because HK was unavailable at the time it was built (2021).

I could be wrong, since the introduction of G30, HK audio came standard only on the M550i not on the lower variants. There was an option to add B&W to any 5 series but that got taken away mid cycle.

You’re right. I’m thinking that it comes in the premium package and in my mind, any one that I’d build or almost any that you see have the premium package. In other models it is standalone but I think in the 5 series it was in a bundle.

You ARE driving an LCI now for the 7th gen

The upcoming G60 is the 8th generation, it will be a redesign (better or worse than the Life cycle impulse). Though G60 price is not released yet (let alone the car), it will certainly be significantly more and not too sure when 540i equivalent will show up, likely in 2-3 years from now as BMW focuses on the pure electric and hybrid drivetrains.

Music is so personal, it would be tough if you are used to the HK or B&W in your husband's car!

Yea I believe it’s in the same bundle as the gesture and HUD. I can’t remember the package name but prob premium like you say.

Ahhh, I always thought LCI meant the facelift. I was used to seeing the 2022 X3 being called the LCI that I just assumed it’s when the vehicle gets a facelift.

Yea the dealership told me the prices will be be jacked up about 4K for the 2024.

Yea he has the HK too in his vehicle and I had it in the 22 X3 m40 I traded in. Such is life 😩

It’s not that it’s recent, it was just a temporary Covid casualty among the shortages. The HiFi is fine for her. We knew it going in.

Right. I believe it’s the premium package. Next step up is executive package that adds window shades and one or two other items. Maybe ceramic control knobs

Oh yes now that you mention COVID, I do remember seeing posts on the forum saying the HK was dropped off their build about a week after mine went into production. Shadow line too was also removed.

one day i might swing by the shop and see if they have them in both standard and HK and i can then tell you if it sounds the same or better

in the G30 the difference in numbers - HK has more speakers at the rear, same number at the front. HK has more power at max volume, Hifi will be distorted near max volume. HK has surround sound processing. (although Hifi doesn't say anything about surround sound, it does surround sound processing - i covered up the center speaker and the vocals were missing from the side speakers - they put the instruments in the side and reduced the vocals and channelled vocals to the center in the Hifi. So it must be processed.

In the G20 (3 series) HK and Hifi use the same actual speakers

It is possible in the G30 they could also do that and be using the same speakers ... but maybe not being more luxury, i can't confirm either way ... mine has B&W - that is a different league!

I have noticed that as the main difference. The Hifi doesn’t go as high and sounds more distorted. While the HK has more power without maxing it out. Let us know if you do get to see!!
