Looking back at the date, it's coming up to 9 months since I had the car tuned to stage 2. It's been great and suffered no issues. With the desire to push further, this weekend some more performance modifications were done on the car.

B58 TU Fuel Pump
B58 TU Spark Plugs (0.022" gapped)
Bootmod3 Stage2+ Tune

I had my previous tuner remove their stage 2 tune which then allowed for BM3 to be added on. I like the idea of being in control of the tuning and customisation which is why I opted for BM3. MHD and MG F were also considered but the amount of recommendations for BM3 helped me make my mind up. I haven't been able to 'test' out the car properly as I also had new brakes fitted - currently in the bedding in process. I already have XHP stage 3 on the car and looking forward to seeing how the car performs with all these changes.

This thing looks like it gaps 90% of things on the road bro!

How many miles do you currently have and how would you say it is reliability-wise since tuned?

Did you also flash XHP trans tune?

Thanks bro!

So the car is currently around 50,600 miles. Stage 2+ was done around 8,000 miles ago. Realiability wise, it's been fine. Oil changes are done every 5-6k... overkill maybe but it gives me piece of mind and for what it costs for oil and a filter - it's worth it I think. Plus I don't like the really long service intervals that BMW suggest on these engines.

My flex disc needs changing. Not sure if tuning has accelarated the wear on it but it seems to be a common issue on the G30 as others have had it replaced soon and some on cars with more miles, both on stock and tuned.

I had XHP from when the car was stage 2. I have it set to S2 but then tried S3 - I never went back to S2.

I'm currently looking at hybrid turbo options and tuners who can do me a custom pump fuel tune as a starting point, for the car to be stage 3

Yea I myself always change oil 5-6k too. What are the signs of the flex disc wear?

Vibrations when driving are a sign. Also cracks on the flex disc itself. I've got a few on mine (rear one). I did speak to FullBolton and the good brother advised that it's time to get it changed. He's also got a really handy YouTube video on it and how to change it out

This is what mine looks like currently:

Blimey, didn't realise that they still used these doughnut couplings on modern cars, last time I changed one of those was on a 1968 Hillman Imp. I remember Lotus used them as well as it was common practice to use their versions when you 'tuned' the Imps otherwise you would tear the standard ones apart.

Well there's progress for you... sorry to digress, you build is looking amazing.

Our cars have 2! But it's the rear one that has the issues and needs replacing. The exhaust, bracing and few other bits needs to come off for it to be changed though

Thanks bud!

I have this same setup as OP but I have no upshift braps whats so ever..

I would love to have them.

Not sure why I don't.

Anyone know why?

Go into xHP and increase torque reduction on upshift by moving the sliders to the right.

This I still might do if I can make changes to sports mode only, since I mostly drive in comfort.

I do have the brap already with xhp stage 2 but certainly not as loud as other cars. I suspect this is because I have the high flow dp and not fully catless

Have you noticed a difference in performance going from stage 2 to stage 2+? Also, have you noticed a difference from stage 2 to stage 3 with Transmission tune (XHP)?

My current setup on a 2018 540i M sport
High Flow catted downpipe
M performance muffler
Resonator delete
BM3 stage 2 at 93 octane
XHP stage 2

I have a B58TU HPFP sitting in my garage waiting to install but I was told it doesn't do much if you don't plan on switching your fuel mix. 93 octane is just simpler in my opinion just dunno if it's worth going up to stage 2+ and stage 3 XHP

How is the smell with the VRSF catted DP? I put in the CG DS-1 and it smells awful and doesn't fit with the midpipe well (and thus leaks).

It's not too bad, there's a little bit of a smell but I don't mind that.

I've got a new 5" Catted Downpipe from Osprey that I'm going to put on soon. Heard a lot of good things about them so wanted to try it out.

Please let me know how the fitment and smell is with the Osprey pipe. I went with CG DS-1 it smelled awful and fitment wasn't there (it leaked) at the midpipe due to bad fitment.

the leak is whats leading to the smell, if you get a downpipe that fits flush, the smell is significantly reduced to barely noticeable.

I recommend getting a proven brand for the best results. MAD, Evolution Racewerks, Active Autowerke,etc... lots of options for the different budgets

Sweet! I'll plan to go for the same set up then. Thanks for the feedback!
I do not have loud upshift farts lol just stock stage 2 xhp is what I'm running.

Do you have any other mods than what I listed? Charge pipe or intake you recommend?

Chargepipe isn't needed for the 540. No intake. So just b58 tu hpfp and vrsf catted downpipe

That's what I figured. But I read some threads of people installing intakes and it makes the car sound better but too many mixed reviews with hot air I decided to just stick with OEM. Are you planning on upgrading the turbo anytime soon? Are you also running 93 octane?

Yes running 93 octane for a long time now.. I want the sound with an aftermarket intake but gains are not much or even noticeable so I left it alone

I too have a 2017 and was wondering how many mile you currently have on your car. I have 104K on mine.

I have done a stage one and on the fence of going stage 2 and concerned about reliability.
