Agreed I rarely use the power in my M550 but I do use the gas and with the lighter 540 I might need to revisit it especially if new car prices keep rising. I might miss the rear limited slip diff though…

Same for me. I don't track a car so HP in the mid to high 300s for a car of this size and weight works for me.

Last year I drove a 440i at the BMW autocross event and it was a hoot. Plenty of HP for street driving.

I don't do a lot of track days, and given the weight of the M550i, it was never designed as a track day vehicle (we have the M3 for that). I am also in AZ, so a 500HP+ AC unit is mandatory. Looking forward to my 2 day M School in SC next month. My new 2023 M550i should arrive about 8 weeks after the school.

My current car is a 2018 530e. My next car will be a BEV. The BMW I4 doesn't cut it for me (too little power to move that much weight) and the M50 version has too little range. The IX has good range and power BUT both have that ugly grill. I thought I could get past the grille on the IX by purchasing a dark colored car. But then the other day one was parked across from me and my golf partner (also a long time BMW owner) and I were both flabbergasted by how ugly it was. I just couldn't do it.

I currently have a deposit down on a Lucid Air Pure and as a backup on a Cadillac Lyriq (after I saw the IX). By the time they get to me the I5 may be out and it MAY meet my needs but I won't know until I see specs. One potential problem is that BMW (and most car companies) keep making their cars bigger and I don't want anything bigger than my current 5...preferably smaller. Otherwise it looks like goodbye to BMW even though I love the way they drive (but not the way they currently look).

Future BMW grills will be larger, I fear.

Not sure what status code my M550i is in, but it shows "Dispatched From The Factory, and I think the next step will be arrival at Bremerhaven port. Mine will have to travel to the left coast, so you may get yours before I get mine. I leave on Friday for a 2 day M school in SC. Feeling a bit like a kid on Christmas Eve.

According to the latest news/info from C&D…the new 2024 BMW 5 series (G60) will “debut sometime in late 2023 and go on sale in mid-2024”. Guess interested folks will have to wait till next year to get one.

I’m prettt sure it will be revealed in May and begin production in July. Should be at dealers by early Fall, if I’ve read accurate info. But that’s just for the first models/powertrains. I think the performance models will be after that.

I’ll be going to the Frankfurt motor show this year (which is in Munich!) and no doubt the g60 will be on display. Even though I’m getting a m550 in a week or so, I’ll be interested to see it in the metal.

Raise a glass of Maisel's beer for me while you're there. Their weissbiere is the best.

Aloha all,
I have 2014 F30 that I recently gave to my son and picked up a 2023 G30. I love G30 because of the added space (being 6’ it’s awesome) and also loved the F30. I have a bit of a problem though right now with the G30. I installed an amp and sub into the F30 by tapping a LOC to the speaker wires myself. I then picked up the 2023 G30 and thought I could do the same but now I have no sound and the warning systems are not working either. Any ideas? I put Everything back together but it hasn’t corrected yet. Do I need to drive it more for it to reset or do I need to do a reset? PLEASE HELP!
