i was reading some specs that it said M550i has steering ratio of 16:1 and M5 is 14:1

that would mean you turn the steering less in M550i compared to M5?

anyone has experience?

I don't know what those numbers mean. Rack speed is normally expressed as number of turns from lock to lock e.g 4.5. Smaller the number the quicker and more aggressive the steering rack is. These days many cars also have variable racks based on low vs high speed maneuvers too.
