I saw that as well and I know what you mean. But from the video posted above with different angels, it indeed looks orange but who knows.

Also it was posted earlier that US DOT will require amber turn signals starting 2019, so hopefully BMW took that into consideration.

I am sure they are but unfortunately it is something only used in N. America.

I will order a set from Europe as I have done so in the past.

Nice. But would've preferred no filter no editing no frills real life simple iPhone photos. Way too edited. It's a car. Not a model or city view your taking pics of. Chill.

Thank you for the feedback!

As an FYI, no filters were applied to any of the images. The only adjustments I made were setting the shadows and highlights to replicate the dynamic range of the human eye.

Hey Kitto I ordered the black sapphire with black Dakota and blue stitching too. I'm glad I found your post so I could see what it looks like. Looks great. Now that you've had it for a while do you still like the blue stitching? I'm a little worried about it.

What Happened to Power Tailgate?

Ordered a 2017 540i, but at the time I did the build the Power Tailgate option had mysteriously disappeared. What happened?

Amber turn signals are simply more visible and safer to drive with and behind cars.

Since cars here in the USA use the red light for braking and just general lightning when in the dark, having the turn signals as red are very distracting and blends in too much with the other red lights on the taillight.

When we got our 2015 550i xDrive, we went to the BMW dealership near the Welt and bought the Euro spec rear taillights. Brought the lights back with us and had our mechanic swap them out.

TLDR - Amber turn signals > red turn signals.

was told there were supply chain issues by my CA. which is funny considering the f10 had it as standard.

Everything you said is my exact mindset for red turn signals. Sure they're not a deal breaker, but I prefer amber ones on my car as well for turn signals on other cars. Some cars don't even have two separate lights for their indicator and break lights (seems more american manufacturers do this than any other I've seen. I believe I see Dodge does it more than anyone else). That gets me the most.

Yep, it's truly annoying. I just don't understand why the American market has to get red turn signals but the rest of the world gets amber turn signals. BMW could *easily* save money just by making everything amber but for whatever reason, they choose not to.

I thought it was an American legal thing. So you guys are allowed to have amber turn signals? Not just an ugly amber reflected on the front wheel arch (reminds me of my bicycle)...?

In America, cars are currently allowed to have either amber turn signals or red turn signals (that could be a separate red indicator or system set up that actually uses the brake light as a turn signal).

My friend just told me that they are discussing a law to only allow Amber turn signals going forward. I haven't seen anything on it personally, but I wouldn't mind it If it came to fruition.

As far as that orange reflector that is required on US vehicles, I hear a lot of people complain about it. Some tape over it or wedge it out because they done like the way their front end looks. I know in a slightly different case, some people with their audis buy the euro spec headlights and replace their current US ones.

The typical headlight unit on a US spec Audi.

Here is the euro spec one sold on Euro Price
