Mongolia shut the boarder to China, I hope the rest of the world follows.

Russia has closed so far land border checkpoints where visa-free admission is carried out.

Perhaps this virus is actually novachok lite? The Soviets......er, Russians are jealous of the Chinese economic model?

That would make a great conspiracy theory!

not sure why they only decide to shutdown border with Hong Kong so late in the game - one of the most densely populated city on earth... bad risk management...

Because they waited nearly 6 weeks to react when the first cases pop up in the first week of december but china culture and government is not supportive of people alarming the belll and rocking the boat

Have a business trip to Korea for a few weeks coming up

Some of our expats have mentioned the Chinese are flocking to Korea for treatment/prevention. I'm guessing that'll be the next large outbreak.

Wash your hands often and wear a face mask, gloves and tell room service not to clean your room.

Bring bacteria killing wipes to wipe everything in the room and don't ask room service to come back. Ask for a portable air filter machine (not sure if hotels in Korea offer in) when checking in and call to room service if front desk says no just to make sure.

Bring hand sanitize with you anywhere you go and use it often.

It is not end of the day virus and you can prevent it with proper prep.

Enjoy your time in Korea.

The recovery vs death ratio right now looks pretty grim but I hope we have tons of cases of people who never seek treatment because the symptom was extremely minor for them.

I also, just the other day. True, my acquaintances Koreans are not at all worried.

They are looking very hard if the virus has altered or transformed into a new type.

Just to be clear-- NOBODY builds two full, 2300 bed hospitals in 10 days for cases of the sniffles or "minor flu-like symptoms".

I don't trust the Chinese any farther than I can throw throw them-- no, even less than that.

2+2 is NOT equalling 4 here.

There's more to this than meets the eye. And as the Chinese (authoritarian) government has come down HARD on any dissemination of information (and blocked the CDC), I suspect things are much, much worse than have been indicated.

Heard about a Lancet report today on a research call indicating a 6-member family all testing positive for coronavirus but all having different strains. Seems mutations are occurring already, if true.

R-naught values are also seeming higher than SARS.

That's scary. Not to be a fearmonger here, but I remember reading "the hot zone" about the ebola strain that mutated and became airborne transmissive in Reston VA amongst resus monkeys. Luckily for the world, it didn't cross the species line in that incident.

2 days ago, from Government TV, just a screenshot, didn't think to video it.
i'm not an engineer and never worked in construction but I remember being bothered by the video. the claim was that this is a 1000 bed hospital under construction.
25 or so shovels randomly spaced, no trucks, no dozers, no workers, no survey markers.
just dirt.
anybody else remember seeing this video?
any engineers find this a little fishy?
