Can't wait for the next M5

I'm already drooling over the next M5 and how it will look. I can see the hockey stick being replaced with full side gills from top to bottom and hopefully the rear fenders are widened like that on the M3. Perfect timing for when my F10 M5 warranty expires.

The stitching on the G30 seats looks great. I like it but still feel the F10 is just perfect.

I second that. I like where the G30 design is going and I'm carefully optimistic that the M5 will have slightly more aggressive design features than the predecessor. Can't wait!

G30 is better, especially the profile. F10 looks to fat

F10 without the hood line and we have a winner!
The new headlamps should be 2 series inspired, not touching the grill; is too much.
The interior in the new G is terrible. And those glued screens are again... terrible.

So you're saying the headlight housing is a grill that connects to the headlights... right. I'm not surprised that this is dealership logic :

The portion between the kidneys is not a continuation of the headlights. That is the housing of the radar or sonar or whatever is used for adaptive cruise and other driver assistance features.

I'm an old guy who started buying 5ers back in the mid-80s. I've been out of the brand for a few years but still consider myself a BMW guy and would love to get back in. But to me, BMW seems to have lost all direction - neither a sport- nor a luxury-car. The G30 feels like more of an aggressive facelift than a full on new car. In a few years, I fear that that 10 or 12 years of the same basic F10/G30 style is going to feel very, very old. I wish BMW would stop being so timid and get back out there on the edge. It's a better brand than this!!

Not sure about the pancake-butt rear end...and the tailpipes are gross.

Other than that, it looks good. Side profiles are pretty similar between the two but the front facia of the G30 looks more aggressive.

Looks HUGE overall too.

I agree with this, all exciting and modern designs seem now to be with the EV concept cars and to some extent existing Tesla EVs. It would have been nice if a lot of the EV exterior and interior designs not just some of the tech. and materials had made it into the transitions cars launched today as the G30. BMW have the i8 which have a similar exciting design already. Just look at these exteriors and interiors and how they make cars like the new funfer and E class look archaic ( the Benz is a bit lol though ) and since we should see production cars from the big brands in about 5 years time a G30 will definately be VERY dated in 10 years..l

50/50 for me. G30 got the refresh look while F10 is classy!

The G30 has a very sporty design language. I feel the profile is slick and the front is very aggressive. Like most, the rear is the weakest part. I think the tail lights look very similar to the Infiniti G37. They're very wide and large. Great overall.

To me the G30 looks more luxurious (more like a 7 series) and the F10 looks more sporty. Part of it is the proportions from the side and 3/4 rear angles. The front is definitely better shaped in the G30 (looks dated in the F10). The metallic paint might be adding to this as well. Curious what this generation M5 will look like though!

Curiosity was briefly answered. Someone screwed the pooch and leaked front and rear screen grabs of the Catia 3D models, but they have quickly been removed.

You're right, the stunning designs are more with the EV bunch but I figured the ultra premium EV is a niche market right now.
In this segment of high volume sales/leases you can't be too out there with styling. Most of these cars are designed with a board making sure the designers are always reigned in some.
And as much as we hate it BMW is about making money over making the "ultimate driving machine".

I do agree with others that overall the brand has lost most of its identity. A couple decades ago the in each segment the corresponding BMW model was the sporty alternative to the rest of the competition, not so much anymore. But hopefully the G30 doesn't repeat the mistakes of that year 1 F10 (in driving dynamics)I

Same for me, the new car doesn't leave the F10 as "a has been". I have never had any real issues with the style of the F10, more of a natural progression to the E39 than the E60 was, IMO, and will look good in years to come, just as the E39 (classic looks) still does. Love it or loathe it, the E60 does look the odd one out in the 5-series heritage.

I believe genuinely liking both the outgoing and incoming model is a key to BMW model evolution, for the customer. Don't obviously date the previous model with the new offering.
