The only time that it gets used in our car is when either my wife or I activate it accidentally. I keep forgetting to deactivate it.

I use it more than I use the buttons. Usually have Spotify up for music and it’s easier to use hand gestures for skip track or volume control, especially when driving in traffic and I don’t want to take my eyes off the road.

I use it for skipping track and rarely for volume control. (Easier to use the steering wheel controls) I’ve tried to use it to answer the phone but haven’t been able to learn the gesture.

I definitely like the heads up display. As a matter fact we’ve had it on one of our other cars for years and I never used it. Since using it on the BMW, I find myself turning it on the other car every time I drive it.
I like changing music channels on it as well. I believe you can also use it to see your shift points in sport mode. |

I bought my car off the lot, so didn't choose options. See on the sticker that HUD was an $1,100 option.
Serious question here.....What am I missing on the HUD? I disabled it on the way home from the dealership because I found it distracting. I've enabled and re-disabled it a couple times in the last 3 years after reading about how people love it. I just don't get it....so the speed I'm driving, the speed limit and maybe some Navigation information (if I am using Nav) is projected onto the windshield ala 1990ish Nissan Maxima? Do I have some settings wrong where I am not getting some information that you guys are? Not to mention it is invisible with polarized sunglasses on. |

Mmmmm very wrong here. HUD is so distracting. It’s as useful as lane keeping assist (that there is a worthless function by itself.) I’ll take the split second to look down.

Drama queen. Adjust it so its barely visible. I rock that shit out (HUD) daily. When I close my eyes at night, that’s all I see. It’s burnt into my retinas.

But different strokes for different folks. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Tesla owners tend to swear that turning their heads to the center is also no big deal, and admittedly it doesn’t seem to bother them.
