Muffler Delete - Any downsides?

Looking to get this done to my 540i & was curious if there were any negatives to deleting the oem muffler. Any info is much appreciated!

You might get some drone inside your car... not a good sound to your ears while driving under 2000 rpm.

BWilson263 I saw some people saying to delete the resonator instead + add downpipe for a lot better sound. A local shop quoted me $500 for muffler delete + quad tips. Felt that was a really good price versus an axle back system. However if an axle back is gonna get me a better sound i’ll probably lean towards that. I want to be a sleeper until I step on the gas.

I would do just the resonator first. Then if that's not enough, do the down pipe. Then do a axle back exhaust. You'll be set to flash stage 2.

BWilson263 I watched some videos of the resonator delete and it sounds good. Stage 2 is also in the plans as well one way or the other lol. Just have to call around to local shops and get some quotes. Appreciate the feedback

It drones and won't sound good; it's loud but not in a good way.

It's like how a Honda Civic can be loud but never impressive.

Haha, civic comment on point.

Basically, it screams “I can’t really afford this car or to properly modify it”.
